Teacher’s Day: Engr. Sunny Oche Celebrates Teachers’ Dedication to Nation-Building

The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Council, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, has congratulated teachers in Ado Local Government and across Benue State on the occasion of Teachers’ Day, describing them as critical partners in nation-building and the moulders of future leaders.

Oche according to a media report e-signed by his Principal Private Secretary, Innocent Igelle noted that teachers play roles similar to second parents by nurturing, mentoring and imparting values, knowledge and skills that shape children during their formative years.

He further commended teachers for their resilience, dedication and sacrifices in educating children despite the challenges associated with a growing school-age population. He stressed that the teaching profession remains one of the most important pillars of societal development and called on teachers to continue serving as positive role models whose impact extends far beyond the classroom.

 

The Chairman praised the administration of Governor Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia for its general efforts towards the prompt payment of workers’ salaries and for prioritising the education sector in Benue State. He also called for sustained investment in education, including the recruitment of more qualified teachers to strengthen the capacity of primary schools across the state.

Engr. Oche further emphasised the need to equip children with relevant digital and technological skills to prepare them for the future. He noted that Ado Local Government has introduced free training programmes in areas such as computer programming, data analysis, Artificial Intelligence and robotics to complement conventional education and expose young learners to emerging opportunities.

The Council Chairman urged parents and guardians to work closely with teachers in guiding children towards discipline, learning and good character, stressing that quality education is a shared responsibility among families, schools, government and the wider society.

He wished all teachers good health, renewed strength and greater fulfilment in their service, assuring them that their contributions to the growth and development of society remain highly valued and appreciated.
