DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: DECEMBER 23 HELPING PEOPLE GIVE GOD PRAISE (2) SCRIPTURES: PROVERBS 14: 31; PSALMS 72: 14; HEBREWS 13:16
Today’s devotional is part two of yesterday’s that told us how helping people make God happy. In other words, when we help people we give praise to God. By revelation, it is discovered that showing love to people and helping the poor overcomes poverty is the greatest God’s expectations from human beings. The greatest law from God to Christians is ” Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine hearts and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind… thou shall love thy neighbour as thy self (Matt. 22: 37, 39). This law is the greatest and the hardest to keep. If this law is the greatest, but the hardest, it shows that whoever abide by it make God especially happy. It is therefore, part of giving God praises and a show of thanksgiving.
Helping people around us and ensuring that the poor people are fed, clothed, made happy etc., is the surest way God’s Kingdom is established on the earth. If those who are poor or those highly in need are given what they lack, this world would have gotten rid of hates, criminal mindedness, and other tendencies to vices turning the world to hell these days. Granted that Satan and his agents are influencing wickedness on the earth; the total negligence of the less privilege by the privilege few accounts for the multiplicities of evil in our days.
Today’s devotional hinges on a pathetic story published on Facebook in December 17, 2020, about a woman from Northern Cameroon, in a village called Badjengo by a social media, who because of hunger killed her 6 months old baby to make meal for the family. Before the ugly incidence, she is a known woman going many days or weeks without food. Some neighbours became tied of her begging for foods. Is she a criminal? My answer is NO!
My stand over this woman’s story is that the rich neighbours and some privileged few individuals neglected her and her children. She had killed and offended God. If she was helped God’s name will be praised. These days, evil are multiplying as the poor and less privilege are not helped. True religion ought to reflect in extending the love of the Supreme Beings to the poor and the less privilege. The praise going to God from these groups when helped means much to God. As we get closer to Christmas, let there be positive plans in us to help the poor and the less privileged to rejoice in the birth of Jesus Christ. Let’s make their world fulfilling for them. This will give God higher praises in this period.
PRAYER:
Holy Spirit, always enable me to cause someone today, reason to give God praise for a good thing I will do for he/she in Jesus name.
