The event which was held at the Iboko Secretariat of Izzi Local Government Area during the weekend attracted a mammoth crowd, including political stakeholders, businessmen and women, youths, beckoning of Governor Francis Nwifuru to seek re-election, having performed beyond his campaign promises.

The people of Izzi in order to push their call further took the major villages and roads around Iboko chanting different solidarity songs for the governor.
Speaking to journalists, the Executive Chairman of Izzi Local Government Area, Barrister, Barrister Steve Emenike Nwankpa said it was part of the conventional law for communities in Izzi Local Government Area to meet periodically to evaluate and analyse security issues around the local government across towns and villages and communities.
According to him, the people of Izzi Local Government Area took advantage of the meeting to endorse Governor Francis Nwifuru, reiterating that the rural dwellers consisting of 75% need a man who will govern them, hence, their inclusion in political participation and democratic processes.

He said, “It is part of our Conventional Law to meet periodically to evaluate and analyse security issues around the local government across towns and villages and communities. And today took a unique turn, which is to the glory of God.
“Today we have the conglomerate of 387 village heads with their 10 member executives. We also have the 18 Town Union Presidents of 18 communities with their 10 member executives. We also have 387 village heads across the local governments with their 10 member executives.
“We have the women leaders from every village, 387 women leaders across all villages, who are also here for a routine job, enhancing security across communities and towns and villages of our local communities.
“And today they decided to do something amazing and wonderfully expected. These young men and women, who were also escorted by the critical stakeholders that you saw out there, political appointees, former presidents, and gatekeepers of various local communities, were here.
“They came to my office to ask me to step down to the pavilion to do one or another task that will promote and enhance inclusive participation in our democratic principles and practices in the state. You know, of course, power belongs to the people. The people in the rural areas are up to 75% of the total people that need a man who governs them.
“Today they made a symbolic representation of how they feel and what was that. After, according to them, they have gone through the entire projects of government, that includes the linking of the local government to Benue, with about 125 other spans of bridge that connects.
“And after they have gone through the project that the government has done, to begin to mention, like you saw them say it themselves, they have decided that there is no any village municipal government that anybody from such village will contest the government’s position.
“They have unanimously, unequivocally adopted the workaholic governor of our time, a destiny-proactive and dependable government of our time, youthful and purpose-driven, charismatic leader par excellence. His Excellency, right from the first moment we feel to lead the way. Because to whom much is given, much is expected, and we’ve got one good time deserved by another.

“They have decided to say to me, carry on this message to His Excellency, to come forward and contest and not to go back. That the local government in its entirety have adopted the governor, first of all, to be the only and sole candidate from his Izzi land to contest the next 2027 gubernatorial election.
“This is our political statement. This is the statement of our people. This is the statement of our ancestors, of the stakeholders, of the people who own this community”, he declared.
Stakeholders including Dr Sunday Nwangele, Prince Richard Idike, Dr Moses Ekuma, Chijioke Nwuzor, among others a called on eligible voters, particularly in rural communities, to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the electoral process, and pledged to translate the endorsement into overwhelming electoral support in 2027.
