The Force Commander of the Multi National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Saidu Audu, has called for intensified collaboration among regional forces as part of renewed efforts to decisively defeat terrorism and insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East.

This was contained in a press release issued by the Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) and signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba.

Major General Audu made the call during an operational visit to the Headquarters of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno State, where he engaged senior military officers in strategic discussions aimed at strengthening joint operations.

According to him, the visit was designed to deepen synergy between the MNJTF and OPHK in tackling evolving security threats.

“The aim of this visit is to brainstorm and generate a high volume of ideas with OPHK towards achieving greater operational successes, as well as enhance collaboration for deeper synergy and jointness,” he said.

The MNJTF commander stressed that coordinated military efforts remain the most effective approach to dismantling terrorist networks and denying them operational space.

“Collaborative efforts remain the most viable pathway to decisively decimate terrorist elements and deny them freedom of action,” Audu stated, describing the MNJTF as a unique multinational alliance of troops from contributing countries.

He also commended the Theatre Command of OPHK for its sustained efforts in curbing insurgency in the region.

“The Theatre Command has upheld its mandate commendably, significantly enhancing operational successes and bringing insurgency under considerable control,” he added.

In his remarks, the Theatre Commander of OPHK, Abdulsalam Abubakar, described the visit as timely and strategic, noting that it would boost the effectiveness of ongoing counter-terrorism operations.

“This visit will no doubt enhance the operational effectiveness of OPHK and the MNJTF in the security, peace, and economic interest of the contributing nations,” he said.

Abubakar reaffirmed OPHK’s commitment to sustained collaboration with the MNJTF in combating terrorism and safeguarding lives and property across the North-East.

The high-level visit featured operational briefings, interactive sessions, and inspection of a Quarter Guard, alongside participation from top military officials including the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army, Ugochukwu Unachukwu, and the Deputy Force Commander MNJTF, Ndjonkep Frederic, among other senior officers.

The engagement underscores ongoing regional military cooperation aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability in the Lake Chad Basin region.
