Police Shake-Up: IGP Disu Redeploys Commissioners to Key Commands, Strategic Formations Nationwide

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu has approved a major redeployment of Commissioners of Police (CPs) to state commands and strategic formations across the country in a move aimed at strengthening operational effectiveness, enhancing leadership and advancing ongoing reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
The nationwide deployment, which received the approval of the Police Service Commission (PSC), affects eight state commands and several critical operational departments at the Force Headquarters and other strategic formations.
The development was disclosed in a press statement issued by the Nigeria Police Force and signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Under the new postings, CP Afolabi Wilfred Olutokunbo takes charge of Abia State Command, while CP Ayodeji Faniyan assumes duty in Plateau State. CP Saka Adewale Ajao has been deployed to Bayelsa, CP Ajo Geoffrey Ordue to Cross River, CP Nanna Oji Ama to Anambra, CP Patrick Daaor to Edo, CP Tani Murtala to Jigawa, and CP Samuel Erale to Delta State.
The redeployment also covers several strategic formations, including the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Department of Finance and Administration (DFA), Department of Training and Development (DTD), Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Police Academy, Police Staff College, and Anti-Human Trafficking Units in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna and Gombe.
Among the key appointments are CP Yemi John Oyeniyi to Intelligence and Training at the Force Intelligence Department, CP Charles Ezekwesiri Dike to INTERPOL at the FCID, Abuja, CP Taiwo A. Adedeji to the Counter Terrorism Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja, and CP Mohammed Hassan Ahmed as Deputy Commandant of the Police Staff College, Jos.
Others include CP Uduak Ita Otu, CP Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf, CP Ajayi Oluyemi, CP Bolanle Aremu, CP Ibrahim Lukunche Usman, CP Rita Oyintare Oki, CP Ibrahim Umar D. Zungura, CP Nelson Nwamana, CP Akingbade C. Adeyinka, CP Iya Umar Mohammed, CP Darma Nuhu Na’aliyu, CP Mohammed Yakubu and CP Danbaba Mohammed Labbo, who were assigned to various operational, administrative, training, welfare and investigative departments.
Charging the newly deployed senior officers, IGP Disu urged them to deploy their wealth of experience toward improving policing and public safety across their new jurisdictions.
“The affected senior officers are to bring their wealth of experience to bear in their new assignments by strengthening intelligence-led policing, enhancing operational effectiveness, promoting professionalism, and deepening community engagement in line with the vision of the Force,” the IGP said.
He further tasked the Commissioners of Police to remain committed to safeguarding lives and property while upholding the highest standards of discipline, accountability and service delivery.
The Force emphasized that the latest postings form part of its broader reform agenda, describing strategic personnel deployment as a critical tool for enhancing operational efficiency, strengthening institutional capacity and improving policing services nationwide.
According to the statement, the Nigeria Police Force remains committed to repositioning the institution through effective leadership, professionalism and reforms aimed at delivering better security outcomes for Nigerians.
