DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: FEBRUARY 15 THREE THINGS THE WORLD HATES TO HEAR (3) Scripture: Psalms 119: 9; Acts 9: 36 – 42
The two days’ devotionals so far dwelt on how the world hates words of truth and righteous attitudes. The world know how significant truth and righteousness are to life, but denies power to act on them. Every average person hates someone lying on them or lying to them. But such wouldn’t want to be told the truth of who he/she is attitude or character wise. So it is with righteousness. Everyone of us will feel good if we are treated rightly and justly. But we are happy to cheat on people for our benefits. The world, in the mind of this devotional hates hearing doing good things to the poor and the less privileged. An average wealthy person would want the poor around him or her getting poorer and poorer so as never to lack in cheaper labourers.
Nothing blesses a nation like when majority of the wealthy and riche people take care of the poor masses. The Bible has said that whoever lends to the poor gives directly to God. In another place the Bible says whatever is given to the poor attracts 100% rewards. This message is highly hated by the world of gains and prosperity. There are prospective indices to investing in poor people. Such investments result to diminishing returns. However, the secrets of steady economy of few nations booming in all round prosperities hangs on charitable policies for the poor. The popular adage has said that a giver never lacks. And the world laughs at this adage. Nothing attracts blessings to a man or woman like putting smiles on the faces of the poor. The philanthropists will give the world better testimonies on this.
The cries of the poor and less privileged in any nation go directly to God; and God avenges for them. In the same way, prayers of the poor and the less privileged speedily ascend to heaven and God takes actions of what was prayed for. The story of Dorcas in the Bible illustrated this in Acts 9: 36 – 42. The cries of the poor she helped to Apostle Peter brought passion on Peter who prayed passionately for Dorcas. She came back to life. The irony of life is this. If a wealthy and a rich individually is sick, those who know they will benefit from the Wills pray for the death of the person. But not one who helped the poor and less privileged. The poor and less privileged pray for recovering from sickness of those who helped them. Do we have a nation sinking into economic crises? Let she begin a benefitting programmes for the poor. Do we have an individual going bankrupt? Let they turn attention to the poor and the less privileged. A trial will convince everybody.
PRAYERS:
1. Blessed Father, give our nation the right perspectives on helping the poor and the less privileged in the name of Jesus Christ. This will draw down your love on our country faster.
2. Lord Jesus, poor upon Christians in the world, the former love of caring for the poor and the less privileged as this will return the world to bountiful harvests and Prosperous world of the olden days.
