Some Nigerians in the United States have praised President Bola Tinubu for maintaining neutrality in the ongoing Rivers State crisis between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

Under the auspices of the Association of Nigerian Professionals in Diaspora (ANProD), the Nigerians said President Tinubu’s refusal to take sides with Wike is healthy for democracy.

In October 2023, President Tinubu intervened in the political feud that had engulfed the state, facilitating the signing of a peace pact agreement by both parties involved.

However, hostilities have continued with the presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale assuring that President Tinubu would remain impartial though won’t tolerate attempts to frustrate the operation of the state government.

In a statement signed by its President, Dr. Guy Mc-Ikpa, the group commended the President for this bold stand despite Wike being a member of his cabinet.

Mc-Ikpa said the President has demonstrated exemplary leadership by maintaining neutrality in the face of conflicting interests and opinions.

He said Tinubu’s impartiality and objectivity have fostered a sense of unity and inclusivity, creating a platform for constructive dialogue, and promoting national progress and development.

“We commend the President’s steadfast dedication to serving the greater good of our nation,” the statement said. Under his visionary leadership, our nation has become a beacon of unity and harmony.

“His tireless efforts to bridge divides, promote inclusivity, and celebrate our diversity have created a sense of belonging among all citizens.

“Ordinarily, the President could have taken sides with Wike being his cabinet member. However, his selfless approach has inspired Nigerians to put aside our differences and work towards a common goal, fostering a culture of understanding, respect, and cooperation.

“The President has consistently demonstrated a steadfast commitment to impartiality, upholding the highest standards of fairness and neutrality in governance.

“Through wise and balanced decision-making, he has fostered an environment of inclusivity, where diverse perspectives are valued and respected. By remaining impartial, the President has earned the trust and confidence of the nation, providing a stable and just foundation for our collective growth and development.

“The President’s neutrality in this matter has earned the respect and trust of citizens, particularly those in the Diaspora and we look forward to continued progress under his wise and impartial leadership.”
