HOPE DEVOTIONAL: May 30 Christians are Father’s look- alike children (1). Scriptures: 1 Peter 1: 15 – 16; 2: 9 – 12
It is our being a Christ- centered community that distinguishes us from the unbelieving world around us. Jesus in our lives is the greatest attraction and the greatest offense. In the end, He cannot be avoided, He is either a stepping- stone to God as you believe or a stumbling block to those who disobey the word. (Psalm 118: 8 – 9) “it is better to take refuge in the lord than to put trust in man or princess.” Do we realize who we are? We are chosen to be a royal priesthood. Priests enjoy privileged access to God, that makes them able to intercede for people before God; and to design and declare God’s will for people. A priestly people acts as a go between, linking God and the world. Therefore, we cannot afford to be the same as everyone else, we ought to be different as God is different.
“You are a people belonging to God”. “Once you were a people…..now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy…..now you have received mercy.” The essence is for our lives to correspond to God’s own uniqueness and holiness; which translates into the astonishing transformation that takes place in us as we follow after God. By God’s great mercy, we have been transformed from ‘nobodies’ to ‘somebodies’. (Hosea 2:23) I will show my love to one I called, “Not my loved one”. “I will say to those called, “Not my loved one”, “you are my people” and they will say, “you are my God “.
Waooo!!! I’m excited to know we that were lost, entangled, ruined and gone completely astrayed; have now become the people of God. What a great mercy! We should therefore; hold unto the new life God has given us and allow our behaviour to look like God’s.
Prayer points:
• Oh God, let Jesus Christ in my life be a stepping-stone to you, and not a stumbling block.
• Let Jesus in my life be the only thing that matter to me, help me to learn how to trust you
absolutely.
Confession:
As a priest before God, I cannot afford to be the same as everyone else, give me the grace to be different in Jesus Name.
