Senate Replaced Ndume as Chief Whip

The Nigerian Senator has replaced the her Chief Whip, Sen. Ali Ndume representing Borno South (APC-Borno) with Senator representing Borno North, Sen. Mohammed Monguno (APC-Borno)

 

This followed the reading of a letter titled “Complaints Against the Unbecoming Utterances of Sen. Ali Ndume”  by Akpabio during plenary on Wednesday.

The  letter according to information available to PanAfric Reporters comes from the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Abdullahi Ganduje to the President of the Senate Godswill Akpabio.

 

Thereafter, the upper chamber, in a voice vote, took the unanimous resolution to effect the replacement of Ndume with Monguno.

Ndume’s fall came barely days after he publicly condemned the present economic hardship in the country, allegedly that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was being held hostage in the Aso Presidential Villa by a cabal preventing him from knowing the harsh realities in the country.

 

 

The Senate in a turn of event  dismisses  a motion to penalise former Chief Whip senator Ali Ndume for calling lawmakers “kleptomaniacs” in an interview.

Senator Fasuyi Cyril from Ekiti North raised a point of order on Wednesday, July 17, urging the Senate to take action against Ndume for his remark.

The motion was unanimously rejected when Senate President Godswill Akpabio called for a voice vote on whether to refer the matter to the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions.

Senator Ndume, who was notably absent today, has been vocal in his criticism of President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, highlighting issues such as economic hardship, food scarcity, and the resulting security crisis.
