The ways the youngsters are showing disrespect on their parents’ commands these days present great concern. In the days’ past children hold their parental laws, instructions commandments in high esteem. This is the period there was orderliness, unity, bonding and good behaviours among people living together. The father of the house, from the beginning of the world, commands great respect and seen by every member of the family as a god. His words, laws, and instructions are sacrosanct. Whoever goes against the father’s words is condemned and could even face sanctions. These days, things have changed. Children are granting themselves freedom, rights and liberty to behave the ways they chose. In similar development, human beings seem to have developed apathy towards God’s words. The word “apathy” means lack of interest or concern on things. It is absence of interest, enthusiasm or emotion. Globally, millions of people are treating the Word of God ingloriously.

God is the creator of this world. His Words are meant to be adhered to, respected, and taken very serious and sacrosanct. This devotional is looking at the alarming rates by which some people are going against the words of God. The world is getting too reckless with the Words of God as well as becoming repulsive against things about God. Yet He is the Almighty Father of us all as well as Creator of every living thing on the earth. The Word of God can be described in many ways. One of the descriptions says the Word of God is “His Divine Decree” (Psa. 33: 6). This is the Words He used in creating the world. These words are not His audible spoken words as such. He simply decreed “Let there be light” and light came forth, “Let there be sun and moon” and they sprang forth. The story of creation by God in Genesis 1 and 2 came into existence by God’s “Divine Decreed Words.”

We have God’s verbally spoken Words. These Words were used by God to personally address His people. He used this while speaking to Adam in the Garden of Eden. Example is (Gen. 2: 16-17). These Words come as instructions and commandments. Example is (Exod. 20: 1-3). They are meant to be harkened to or obeyed completely. These verbally spoken Words are mostly abhorred to by many people. The Words of God come through God’s chosen people, call this the Prophets (see 2 Pet. 1: 21). These days, the most insulted servants of God are the Prophets. We have God’s Words under “Inspired Written Words” which God breath into His Vessels to write down. The Bible came to be through inspired words from God. The best scripture for this is 2 Tim. 3: 16 -17. God released His Words through these channels so that the people of the world will use the Words and thus attract God’s complete ownership of us all. But unfortunately, many are treating His words anyhow.

PRAYER:

FATHER, give us the grace to know you through your Words so that we harvest all that are buried within your Word.
