TAX REFORM BILL: President Tinubu has agreed to amend contentious clauses
President Bola Tinubu has agreed to amend contentious clauses in the proposed tax reform bills, according to Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State. This move comes after the four bills generated controversy and faced opposition from various quarters, including the Northern Governors Forum and the National Economic Council.
The four bills in question are:
Nigeria Tax Bill 2024: Aims to reform the country’s tax system
Tax Administration Bill: Focuses on improving tax administration
Nigeria Revenue Service Establishment Bill: Seeks to establish a new revenue service
-Joint Revenue Board Establishment Bill: Proposes the creation of a joint revenue board
Governor Sule revealed that President Tinubu has allowed the governors to forward their recommendations to the National Assembly for incorporation into the bills. This development indicates a willingness to listen to concerns and make adjustments to ensure the bills are more acceptable to all stakeholders.
