

Sen. Ningi Calls for Tabular Formate of Budgetary Document, Queries Detail Gaps

The Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly, Dst. Sen. Ahmed Abdul Ningi (PDP) has called for the tabular formate analysis of budgetary documents being the best standard while querying the information gap in the 2024 budget performance report of the art, culture and creative economy ministry.
Ningi made the call today during the senate committee on art, culture and creative economy budget presentation and interactive session with the ministry’s minister and top management team.
Ningi noted that for easy access to information on the document, tabular formate analysis of data is better. He however advocates for the proper funding of the ministry for optimum performance.
The Senator representing Jigawa Northwest, Sen. Babangida Hussani (APC) aligning to the submission says proper funding for the ministry is fundamental considering that the ministry is critical to the nation’s economy.
Concerned that the Ministry’s budget is very low compared to the huge funding needs and infrastructure deficit of the ministry, despite it’s potential of adding value to the economy (GDP) he appeals that the Senate should work closely with the ministry. Thereby enjoins the committee to invite the director, budget office,minister of budget and national planning as well as the minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, highlights the need to increase the ministry’s budget
Thereafter, the committee after a motion adopted the 2024 budget performance report. yields to Senator Babangida Hussani’s appeal for proper funding for the ministry and extended invitation to DG Budget Office,Honourable Minister of Budget and National Planning as well Hon. Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy.

Earlier, the minister of art, culture and creative economy, Hon. Hannatu Musa Masawa, says with proper funding, the ministry can add 100trn to the economy(GDP) by 2030, highlights the challenges of the ministry. She therefore appealed for the close working relationship with the Senate while appealing for the support of the committee to fulfill the ministry’s mandate.
The chairman of the committee and sen. representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District in the 10th Senate, Sen. Mohammed Onawo Ogoshi (APC) in his opening remark calls on the minister to brief the committee on the performance of the 2024 budget for assessment before an interrogation into the 2025 budget.
” Let have the opportunity knowing what you did in 2024, so you can go ahead with what you intend to do in 2025.”
” Your ministry is one of the most important ministry in the country, with the proper management of your ministry, you can add value to the growth of the country’s economy, GDG.”
Note that senator Ahmed Abdul Ningi is one of the most trusted voice in the 10th Senate, serving his second term as a Senator representing Bauchi Central Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly. He represents his District under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Senator Ningi first came into the National Assembly in 1999 as a Member representing Ningi Federal Constituency. In 2003 and 2007, he was also re-elected to represent his Constituents. During this period, he served on various Committees and also was the House Majority Leader from 2003 to 2007. Subsequently, he moved to the Senate in 2011, where he served as the Senate Deputy Majority Leader under the PDP.
