Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo Seeks Stakeholders Support, Says Chief Onoja’s support will be instrumental in achieving milestone

The Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO) has made a passionate appeal to Chief Dr. Mike Okibe Onoja, CON, a renowned philanthropist and champion of development, to support its accreditation and growth efforts. Professor Stephen O. Abah, Acting Vice-Chancellor of FUHSO in the appeal  emphasizes the institution’s commitment to training the next generation of healthcare professionals and transforming the health sector of Nigeria.

Established in 2020, FUHSO has made significant strides in health sciences education, welcoming four cohorts of students and laying the foundation for excellence. However, the university according to Abah faces critical challenges in its bid for accreditation, including the need for equipped laboratories, furnished lecture halls, and critical logistics.

 

 

He added  “FUHSO is on the brink of a significant milestone of accreditation for its existing programs and resource verification for new ones, including Pharmacy, Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, and Dietetics. The university’s management team believes that Chief Onoja’s support will be instrumental in achieving this milestone.”

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen O. Abah who led the management team of FUHSO on a courtesy visit to His Excellency, Chief Dr. Mike Okibe Onoja CON outlined several ways Chief Onoja has made a lasting impact on educational institutions, community and human growth and development through his renowned philanthropic gesture. However, he appeals to chief Onoja to adopt key projects like equipping laboratories, furnishing lecture halls, or providing a community medicine bus to address specific accreditation requirements and improve the learning environment.

He also said establishing a scholarship fund that will create opportunities for indigent but deserving students to pursue their dreams of becoming healthcare professionals and Investing in Infrastructure in partnership with the school to build facilities such as hostels, lecture halls, or a state-of-the-art research center at FUHSO’s permanent site, and leveraging his networks to endorsing FUHSO’s mission to attract other philanthropists, corporate sponsors, and government agencies to join the course will sustain his legacy.

He noted that FUHSO’s success is a shared legacy, enjoins stakeholders that together, the university and its supporters can elevate the institution to national and international prominence. Adds that With Chief Onoja’s support, FUHSO can continue to thrive, enhancing the socio-economic development of Otukpo and Idoma land, creating employment opportunities, and fostering a generation of healthcare professionals whose contributions will reverberate across Nigeria and beyond.

The academic icon, Prof. Abah in his remark also describes Chief Dr. Mike Okibe Onoja CON as pillar of Idoma land, a beacon of philanthropy, and a champion of development.

Highlighting the vision of FUHSO, Prof. Abah said

FUHSO, located right in the heart of Idoma land, was established with a singular mission: to train the next generation of healthcare professionals who will revolutionize the health sector in Nigeria.

He noted, “we are acutely aware that no great institution is built in isolation; it thrives through partnerships, the goodwill of community leaders, and the collective strength of those who believe in its mission.

Chief, Prof. asked rhetorically and said “your legacy as a leader who invests in meaningful causes resonates perfectly with the needs of FUHSO. Your support at this critical juncture will not only ensure the university’s accreditation but will also leave an indelible mark on the future of our people.

“By investing in FUHSO, you are not merely supporting an institution; you are empowering generations of students, strengthening the healthcare sector, and positioning Idoma land as a hub for education and development.”
