Ado Local Government Chairman Hosts Dignitaries at Memorial Service for Late Pa Pius Oche
A large gathering of mourners and dignitaries converged on New Jerusalem, Apa Agila, on Sunday, February 15, 2025, to commemorate the one-year memorial service of Late Pa Pius Oche. The event, held at the late Pa Oche’s country home, was graced by Engr. Sunny Oche, the Chairman of Ado Local Government Council as the Chief Host.
The memorial service featured a Church service followed by heartfelt eulogies. Family members, led by Chief James Oche, first son of the deceased, shared poignant recollections of Pa Oche’s life and impactful contributions to his family, community, and public service. Speakers highlighted his exemplary discipline and the positive influence he had on his children, emphasizing the lasting benefits to the nation, state, and Ado Local Government Council.
Among the notable dignitaries present were Senator Abba Morro, Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Minority Leader of the Senate; Hon. Mrs. Lami Danladi Ogenyi, Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, and her husband, Chief Sunday Attah; Hon. Mrs. Perpetual Okafor, former Secretary to the Ado Local Government; Hon. Agbese Unazi, Past Caretaker Chairman of Ado LGC; and Mr. Patrick Ogbu, former DG of the NTA.
A wreath-laying ceremony at Pa Oche’s mausoleum served as a poignant highlight of the event. In a significant tribute, the Apa Parish of the Anglican Communion was renamed the Late Pa Pius Ogaba Oche Memorial Anglican Church, commemorating his lifelong dedication to the Church. The ceremony also included the laying of the foundation stone for the new church building and a fundraising appeal.
The atmosphere throughout the day reflected the profound respect and admiration for Late Pa Pius Oche and his lasting legacy. The event served as a testament to a life well-lived and a fitting tribute to his enduring impact on his family, community, and the nation.
