In a strong show of support for homegrown healthcare innovation, the Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening public-private partnerships (PPP) in the health sector, in line with the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Programme and the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

This declaration came during an official visit by the Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, to Everight Diagnostic and Laboratory Services Ltd., Abuja—a leading indigenous diagnostic center making waves in Nigeria’s medical landscape.

The Minister according to a press release e-signed by the ministry’s Head of Information and  Public Relations, Alabama Balogun praised Everight Diagnostics for its innovation, resilience, and contributions to curbing medical brain drain by providing Nigerian professionals with rewarding opportunities to thrive within the country.

“I’m impressed by what you’ve built here. It takes vision, perseverance, and collaboration,” said Dr. Salako. “This is the kind of model the government encourages—where the private sector grows and contributes meaningfully to national health development.”

Encouraging medical professionals to remain and invest their skills in Nigeria, Dr. Salako emphasized the transformative impact of building strong local health systems.

“When you leave your country, no matter how hard you try, you’re unlikely to be number one. But here, you can create value, build systems, and lead in your own right,” he added.

Dr. Everest Okpara, Chairman and CEO of Everight Diagnostics, expressed deep appreciation for the minister’s visit, describing it as a “huge morale boost” for the entire team.

“We are committed to reducing the over $2 billion lost annually to medical tourism and outsourced tests abroad. Your visit confirms that our efforts are seen and valued,” he said.

The visit marked a key step toward deeper collaboration between the Federal Ministry of Health and Everight Diagnostics. Both parties pledged to leverage PPP frameworks to deliver sustainable, world-class healthcare services for Nigerians.

During the tour, the Minister inspected several of the facility’s high-tech units, including the Histopathology & Cytology Laboratory, Radiological Department (featuring MRI, CT scan, X-ray, and Ultrasound), and Clinical Laboratory.

Dr. Salako’s visit is widely viewed as a clear signal of the Tinubu administration’s seriousness in backing indigenous healthcare solutions and harnessing private sector potential to drive universal health coverage.
