DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: OCTOBER 6 SELF CONSCIOUSNESS OF JESUS (1) SCRIPTURE: JOHN 4: 34; 8: 46; 18: 38

Spread the love

As heard yesterday, self-consciousness for Christians should be on positivity. That is, seeing whatever the mind conceives as material of usefulness. In other word, anything the mind thinks one is, should be seen as motivation to do good. The more we occupy our minds with negative images of ourselves, the more we lose focus of what we should do to our glory. Our Lord Jesus Christ had the consciousness of who He is and the works He comes into the world to do. By earthly birth, He came through a Carpenter and had a muddy story of birth as His mother said she was pregnant of Him by the Holy Spirit. None of these deterred Him of the consciousness of His true self. Jesus had the consciousness of His relation to God as Son of God who represented His Father in all things. He said, “…he who has seen me has seen my Father (John 14: 9). He went about seeing self being one with His Father.

Jesus had the consciousness of having “Almighty Powers” over forces of darkness anywhere He was. Reason He never feared demons or spiritual forces. Jesus would have given up when His earthly relations in Nazareth refused to accept Him, to the extent that He could not do much works of signs and wonders. When earthly people took Him for a mortal man or a great teacher and prophet, Jesus knew Himself as a Messiah of the world. Many of us allow the opinion of people about us to set up our negative self-consciousness for us. Even though many who listened to Jesus took Him to be a liar, yet His self-consciousness made Him to say ” I came into the world to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me” (John 18: 38).

One of the major reasons many people died unsung is lost of purposes of being born to make impact. Jesus was a Leader of purposes. One of His core assignments on earth was doing God’s wills. He aired out this when He said: “My food, said Jesus, is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish the work.” (John 4: 34). Many of us feel too hurt when people refuse believing in us. The self-consciousness in Jesus knew He never lied even though some refused to believe in Him. To these people He said: “Which of you can truthfully accuse me of sin? And since I am telling you the truth, why don’t you believe in me? (John 8: 46 Africa Study Bible). This devotional reproduces Jesus’ self-consciousness of Himself for us His followers to know how to channel our self-consciousness on positive images of ourselves. Emulating Jesus’ kind of self-consciousness will help Christians build positive images of themselves and achieve much in life.

PRAYERS:

1. HOLY FATHER, build into my life, the positive self-consciousness of your Son Jesus for my maximum achievements here on earth in Jesus name.

2. ALMIGHTY GOD, grant all Christians the gift of positive self-consciousness so as to make them earn reputations on earth.

POSITIVE CONFESSION:

I reject every myopic conception about my person in Jesus name.
