INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE GIRL CHILD: The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Front Lines of Crisis”
On behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, and the good people of Ado Local Government Area, I warmly join the global community in celebrating the 2025 International Day of the Girl Child; a day dedicated to reaffirming our collective commitment to empowering girls and addressing the barriers that hinder their full participation in education and nation-building.
This year’s theme, “The Girl I Am, The Change I Lead: Girls on the Front Lines of Crisis,” is a powerful reminder that every girl possesses immense potential to influence change within her family, community, and the world. In Ado Local Government, we recognize that education remains the strongest weapon for unlocking this potential. It is through learning that girls gain the confidence, knowledge, and voice to lead, to innovate, and to contribute meaningfully to society even amidst crisis or adversity.
Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche continues to prioritize the education of the girl child as a strategic pathway to sustainable development. Through ongoing partnerships with schools, community leaders, and parents, efforts are being intensified to address the challenges of low enrollment, early marriage, gender-based barriers, and poverty that often limit the girl child’s access to education. We remain committed to creating safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environments where every girl can dream without limits and achieve without fear.
To parents and guardians, this is a call to action. The education of your daughters is not just a gift to them but an investment in the future of your family and our society. Today’s world offers equal opportunities in the labour market, and women are increasingly taking up leadership roles in government, business, science, and technology. A well-educated girl grows into an empowered woman who contributes to the wellbeing of her home and the prosperity of her community. Let us therefore give our daughters the same encouragement and opportunities we give to our sons.
As we commemorated this important day yesterday, October 10, 2025, let us remember that when we educate a girl, we educate a generation. Let us continue to work hands in glove with government, parents, teachers, and community leaders to ensure that every girl in Ado Local Government stands tall as a beacon of hope and leadership. Together, we can build a society where girls are not left behind but are equipped to lead the change we all seek.
Signed,
Mrs. Rose Halimat Ogaba-Asohon
