DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: OCTOBER 28 LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OUT OF IT (1) SCRIPTURE: PHIL. 4: 13, 19
We are all conceived through same biological process, spent about nine months in our mothers’ wombs and got delivered into the world as babies. At this stage the differences could be colours and sexes. Who we are on the inside and what we will become in life begins as it manifests through innate tendencies. Those to become leaders are seen gathering others around selves easily. Those born to be rich and wealthy begin to succeed in financial transactions with ease. Those to become academic gurus begin to sell themselves into book-warm classes. Then, those who think they are born to serve make themselves herald fellows and household servants.
Among many others are those who chose to labour their destinies to the top. These are they who refused to sleep when others are sleeping, refused to give up when failures salute them on their faces. These are those born without helpers, yet make themselves selves employed to be others’ helpers. There are still those who convert their disabilities to abilities. Reason we hear of celebrities of from “grass to grace” club members. Amongst all of these groups are sons and daughters of the rich and wealthy turned rogues and drug addicts. The summation of this is, anyone can become whatever he or she makes out of life.
It is not true that one who is born into poverty ridden families is license to remain poor. It is never an excuse for one born without helpers to become a criminal. No type of life born into stands a good reason to remain useless. The songs of Mary and Hannah reveal to minds that God determines destinies though. Yet, one can choose to be who he or she makes out of life. Noah, Abraham and Enoch lived amongst sinners but made themselves friends of God through righteousness. This challenges those blaming their criminal mindedness on pressure groups to know they can be good citizens after all.
Are you here blaming your present lifestyles on any one or any circumstances? Remember one Nigeria boy born into poor family in Kaduna called Rashidi Yekini, who became world soccer king without going to formal school? Archbishop Benson Idahosa was dropped in refuse dump by his father for constant sickness. He built himself into one of the most powerful and most popular servants of God in Nigeria. Jesus was born into an animals’ manger among animals, raised up in a Carpenter’s house. Within 33½ years, He made Himself the most popular world leader. Today’s devotional is telling some body to get out of self-pity zone and do something to change his or her stories into testimonies. As Christians, there is no gain reciting “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” without doing nothing. Or, “The Lord will supply all my needs…” with mere wishful thinking. Until you change your narratives no one tell your history.
PRAYER:
JEHOVAH FATHER, I am ready to make a good difference in life, grant me ideas and strengths to swing into actions in Jesus name.
