DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: DECEMBER 18 GOOD MEASURES THROUGH PRAISE SCRIPTURES: LUKE 6: 38; 1 Chronicles 23: 5

The gospel of Luke used in this devotional today has, from time immemorial, been used for raising offerings, funds and other finance raising programmes by Christians. It might seem absurd bending it to material for praising God. This devotional however, looks into the logicality in the phrases “good measure” and “running over”. The logic here is that, if giving money or materials in good measure, and, giving till it runs over will bring about equal good returns; then giving God quality praises in good measure and in overflowing renditions will result in greater return from the one receiving the praises.

As a matter of fact, giving praise and thanksgiving in good measure till it runs over is easier in praises and dancing than giving physical cash and materials. Christians who find it very hard to part with their money for God can easily part with their praises and dancing steps. We Christians must learn from King David’s principles of giving God praises in “good measure” and in “running over”. King David, when the Ark of God was being brought into Israel, gave all in him under good measure, dancing till almost becoming naked. He was a man who knows how to give everything in good measure to God. The areas of praise were an exceptional for King David. King David knows also how to prepare people for giving God praises in “good measure” till the praise overflows.

King David’s readiness to give God praise in Good Measure will be found in 1 Chronicles 23: 5. The Bible says He prepared 4000 people responsible for giving God praises in “good measure. ” What a great Mass Choir! The amazing thing about this is, King David produced all the instruments for the 4000 choir members by himself. He raised these singing personalities while preparing to build God a Temple. Perhaps, one of the reasons God says in the scripture that David is the man after His heart is the ways David gives God qualitative and quantitative praises.

Today’s devotional therefore, enjoins Christians to see how churches can give God praises, worship, dancing and thanksgiving in good measures, in great quality and in gracious styles. If Christians believed that giving money as offering in church in good measure, shaking together, and running over make God rewards them equally; giving God praise in like manner will be greatly rewarded to them. Giving God praises and dancing steps in good measure is another discovering that makes God blesses and blesses His people.

PRAYER:

LORD JESUS, I pray that you empower the Angel of Praise to teach me how to give God quality and sincere praise from today upward. Amen.
