Ado, Benue State – February 15, 2026

The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Engr. Sunny Oche, has ordered the immediate imposition of a dusk-to-dawn curfew in Ukwonyo Ward, Utonkon District, following what authorities described as an unprovoked act of brigandage that resulted in the destruction of properties and posed serious threats to lives.

The directive, which takes effect immediately, will remain in force until further notice.

According to a press statement signed by the Principal Private Secretary to the Chairman, Innocent Igelle, the decisive measure became necessary to restore law and order, safeguard innocent residents, and prevent any further breakdown of peace in the affected community.

“The curfew is aimed strictly at protecting lives and property and ensuring the swift restoration of normalcy,” the statement emphasized.

Security operatives have been fully commissioned and authorized to enforce the curfew without hesitation. The local government warned that anyone found violating the restriction would face severe consequences in accordance with the law.

Authorities also issued a strong warning to parents, guardians, and community leaders to call their wards and youths to order, stressing that maintaining peace and ensuring compliance is a collective responsibility.

Residents of Ukwonyo Ward have been urged to remain calm, stay indoors during curfew hours, and cooperate fully with security agencies as they carry out their duties.

Reaffirming its commitment to stability, the local government declared that peace and security in Ado Local Government Area remain non-negotiable.

Further updates are expected as security operations continue in the area.
