DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: FEBRUARY 17 IF WE HAVE EYES TO SEE (2) Scripture: Matthew 24: 6 – 7; Luke 21: 11
Yesterday’s devotional seems to berate political leaders who failed to use what their eyes saw in other countries to develop their countries for the good of their people. God’s kind of leadership if seen perfectly concerns itself with what makes people happy, joyful, living peaceful with themselves and others neighbours. Life essential amenities are amongst major programmes of God’s leadership for human beings. If we leaders have eyes to see what God wants for mankind, the present ugly circumstances would not have been in existence.
Today’s devotional looks at another dimension of what our eyes are supposed to see so as to learn lessons and amend our lives. The Bible is full of things that will happen in this world progressively, heralding the End of the World. These things have been given prophetically millions of years ago. They were prophesied that once they begin to happen in phases, human beings are to take precaution about them. Regrettably, the more these things are happening, they more adamant human beings become. The prophecies are about what will happen to nature, the society, the spiritual things, and world politics as well as to the people of God. If our eyes can see these things now; change in human appetites, political ambitions, illegal amassment of wealth, criminalities etc., which dominate our societies would not have occurred.
Jesus talked of what will happen to nature as the world moves progressively towards the End Time. These include famines and earthquakes. Others are floods (called Tsunamis today), hurricane, tornados and wild fires. There will be “pestilences” (sicknesses and diseases that defile treatments) which are manifesting in form of Plagues such as AIV/AIDS, SARS, Ebola, COVID-19, and many others. The world is getting perplexed about all these. Yet, people see them with their eyes and blame the countries alleged to have originated them. By end of 2021 WHO reported that about 33.6 million to 48.6 million have died of HIV/AIDS. SARS is a respirational sickness like Corona that came around 2002, it has killed thousands of people. World Health Organization, referring research in May 4, 2020 said it killed millions. Ebola was discovered in about 1976 allegedly from South Sudan and Democratic Republic of Congo. Its deadliest outbreak came in 2014 – 2016. It killed thousands in Africa and United State. The most feared COVID – 19 came about 2019. Summary report in February 6, 2023 of its cases was 672 million while about 6.85 million were reported dead. If our eyes are seeing these, we should agree that the world is tilting to destruction – End Time of the world coming gradually. Pathetically, many are laughing at information such as this!
PRAYER:
Almighty Father, from the information above, I now know that your word is Yea and Amen; I plead that you grant me ability to believe in your words. Give me grace to change from my ways of life and begin to live the life you prescribed for me in the name of Jesus Christ.
