The highest youth body in Izzi land drawn from Abakaliki, Ebonyi and Izzi local government areas in Ebonyi State, have unanimously thrown their weights behind the second term bid of the incumbent Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru.

The Izzi Nnodo Youth Forum gathered in their numbers at their national secretariat adjacent Nkaliki Junction along the Abakaliki-Afikpo Expressway, and declared their support for Governor Nwifuru’s re-election, citing his numerous achievements since he assumed office in 2023.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Dr. Chibueze Elom, explained that the resolution for the endorsement came after a careful and deliberate review of the governor’s achievements.

He said it was then apprioprate for the group to lead the preparation for the re-election of Governor Francis Nwifuru.

His words:, “As a youth body that has closely followed his programmes and policies, and observed with satisfaction his numerous achievements, we believe this is the appropriate time to endorse him for a second term,” he said.

Elom maintained that tha governor has out performed in both infrastructure and human capital development, describing his administration as people-oriented and welfare-driven.

“His government has brought relief to both serving civil servants and retirees. His achievements are evident in both rural and urban road construction, as well as in the successful sponsorship of students across the 13 local government areas on overseas scholarship programmes,” he added.

He further highlighted ongoing projects such as the ICT University, Oferekpe, alongside other developmental initiatives across the state.

The forum also argued that, since the return to civilian rule, other zones in the state have enjoyed two-term governorships, and therefore expressed confidence that Governor Nwifuru would receive the necessary support to complete a second term.

.In his remarks, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Chieftaincy Matters and Rural Development, Hon. Paul Nwogha, commended the group for the endorsement and promised to convey their message to the governor.

Nwogha also noted that the administration has restored peace in previously troubled areas of the state.

Similarly, the Chairman of the Quarry Owners Association of Nigeria, Ebonyi State chapter, Chief Chikodiri Ojimba, assured that leaders of the Izzi clan would work to ensure that no other candidate from the area contests against the governor.

“You do not contest against a leader you are convinced is performing well. Instead, you support such an administration,” he said, adding that potential aspirants from the clan have already resolved to back the governor.

Ojimba further praised the governor for creating a conducive environment for businesses, attracting investors, and ensuring the security of lives and property across the state.

Also speaking, a member of the Ebonyi State Board of Internal Revenue, Hon. Abraham Nwedu, called on other zones in the state to support Governor Nwifuru’s re-election bid.

He noted that the Izzi people had previously supported leaders from other zones and urged for reciprocity.

“We appeal to the people of Ebonyi Central and Ebonyi South to support Governor Francis Nwifuru, just as the Izzi people have done in the past. This is the time to reciprocate that goodwill,” he said.
