Ebonyi In Diaspora Adopts Engr. Chief Christian Asaga Nwali For 2027 NASS Elections

Ebonyi indigenes in diaspora, especially drawn from Ikwo, Ezza South, Ezza North and Ishielu Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State, have made a clarion call on Chief Arch. Dr. Christian Asaga Nwali, to contest in the 2027 National Assembly elections, either for the Ebonyi Senatorial District or the Ikwo/Ezza Federal Constituency.

 

The resolution for the call was reached after a meeting of New Horizon Ebonyi Indigenes Union meeting held on March, 19th in Rivers State, comprising representatives from the thirteen (13) LGAs of Ebonyi State.

 

In a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting entitled “conscience and collective appeal” and signed by Comrade Chris Irem , Mr. Stephen Egbe and sixty-two(62) others, said Ikwo, Ezza South, Ezza North and Ishielu Local Government Areas have over the years suffered underdevelopment and underrepresentation, therefore, needs urgent leadership response.

 

According to them the people from the area have continued to face; poor road infrastructure limiting economic growth, inadequate healthcare systems,declining educational standards, limited human capital development opportunities and weak representation in national policymaking.

 

While thanking Governor Francis Nwifuru for his developmental strides and prowess in developing Ebonyi State, the group adopted the Governor for re-election in 2027, even as they acknowledged the efforts of Chief Arch. Dr. Christian Asaga Nwali, through his foundation, have significantly complemented the governor’s vision of people-oriented governance.

 

They reiterated that Chief Nwali has demonstrated commitment to human capital development and mentorship, support for education through scholarships and competitions, economic empowerment through markets and skill programs, community development through infrastructure projects, adding that he is a man of forward-looking vision.

 

The communiqué reads in part, “We, the concerned and united indigenes of Ikwo, Ezza South, Ezza North, and Ishielu Local Government Areas of Ebonyi State, residing across Rivers, Abia, Bayelsa, and Delta States, hereby issue this communiqué as a voice of collective concern, hope, and responsibility toward the future of our people.

 

“This resolution was reached on 19th March 2026 during the New Horizon Ebonyi Indigenes Union meeting in Rivers State, comprising representatives from the thirteen (13) LGAs of Ebonyi State. This communiqué is not just an appeal—it is a call to duty, born out of years of underdevelopment, underrepresentation, and the urgent need for responsive leadership.

 

“We acknowledge and commend the developmental strides of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Francis Ogbonnaya Nwifuru, whose leadership has shown commitment to repositioning Ebonyi State.

 

“In recognition of this progress, and in the interest of continuity and consolidation of ongoing reforms, we hereby express our support for his re-election bid to further strengthen the economic growth and leadership direction of the state.

 

‘We also note that the efforts of Chief Arch. Dr. Christian Asaga Nwali, through his foundation, have significantly complemented this vision of people-oriented governance.

 

“In light of the need for stronger representation at the national level, we unanimously call on His Eminence, Chief Arch. Dr. Christian Asaga Nwali to contest in the 2027 National Assembly elections, either for the Ebonyi Senatorial District or the Ikwo/Ezza Federal Constituency. This call is based on proven capacity, integrity, and visible impact.

 

“We urge him to answer this call to higher service—where his experience and compassion can translate into effective national representation and meaningful development for our people”, they said.

 

Kama Dclared Winner Of Ohanivo APC Primaries, Asures Of More Democracy Dividends Alex Odeh Member representing Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo(Ohanivo)¹Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Nkemkanma Kama, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the forthcoming general election, pledging to deliver more democratic dividends to his constituents. Speaking shortly after his victory at the party primaries, Kama expressed excitement and gratitude to party stakeholders, supporters and the state leadership for giving him another opportunity to serve. “I’m elated and very happy for being given another opportunity to serve my people. I’m grateful to all the stakeholders, our leaders, our constituents and most importantly our governor who stood by us throughout the process. Above all, I thank God for giving us this opportunity to serve again.” The lawmaker described the turnout and mobilisation witnessed during the primaries as only a glimpse of what to expect during the general elections. “This is nothing compared to what will happen during the general election,” Kama stated confidently. “This is just a piece of cake for what is going to happen during the election proper.” Kama assured constituents that his second term would usher in greater development and more opportunities for the constituency. According to him, his return to the National Assembly would strengthen the constituency’s chances of attracting more federal projects and benefits, especially as a ranking member of the House. “More development and more ability to attract goodies to our constituency is what our people should expect,” he said. “We have only done one budget, and now we are preparing for the second budget cycle. We’ll revisit communities we promised projects and ensure we fulfil those promises before moving forward.” He added that retaining experienced lawmakers was crucial to securing greater influence and benefits for the constituency. “A ranking member is a ranking member; you can’t buy that in the market,” he noted. “I believe our governor, being a former parliamentarian, understands the importance of having ranking lawmakers who can attract more development to the constituency.” Also speaking after the primaries, Ebonyi State Commissioner for ICT, Tochukwu Okorie, said the massive turnout and patience of party supporters reflected the confidence of the people in the APC. “I align myself with the feelings of my people.When you look at the crowd and the fact that they have waited here since morning, it shows they are happy and satisfied with the party.”, he said. Reacting to questions about possible opposition challenges ahead of the general election, the commissioner dismissed fears, insisting the APC remained firmly rooted among the people. The APC primaries in the Ohanivo Federal Constituency recorded a large turnout of party faithful and supporters, setting the stage for what promises to be a keenly contested general election
