The senator representing Bauchi South in the 10th Senate, Buba Shehu deepened his aspiration, as he officially submitts his nomination forms.
Speaking shortly after completing the submission process, Buba said his decision to contest the governorship was driven by a direct call from his constituents and the broader political dynamics within the state.
“I am here to formally submit my nomination forms. Recall, last week, I obtained the forms and returned to my constituents, who endorsed and signed them. That is why I am here today to complete the process,” he said.
The lawmaker clarified that contrary to speculation about a possible return to the Senate, his ambition is firmly focused on the governorship seat.
“I’m not going for the Senate again. My nomination form is for the gubernatorial contest,” he stated.
Umar explained that his decision aligns with the rotational nature of politics in Bauchi State, which he described as “peculiar” due to its strong emphasis on inclusiveness and political awareness among the people.
“Our politics in Bauchi is unique. It is shaped by a high level of awareness and participation. Based on this, my constituents and the people of Bauchi have called on me to serve at the state level,” he added.
On his policy direction, the gubernatorial aspirant outlined key priority areas that would form the core of his administration if elected. These include security, education, healthcare, agriculture, and economic development.
“When elected, my focus will be on critical sectors such as security, education, health, agriculture, and the economy. These are the pillars that will drive development in the state,” Umar said.
He expressed confidence in his chances, citing widespread support and what he described as a strong “prospect” for victory in the forthcoming election.
The development adds a new dimension to the evolving political landscape in Bauchi State ahead of the next gubernatorial polls.
