Children’s Day 2026: Ado Local Government Chairman Celebrates Children, Reaffirms Commitment to Their Future
The Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government Area, Engr. Sunny Oche, has congratulated pupils and students of primary and secondary schools across the local government on the occasion of the 2026 Children’s Day celebration. He described the day as an opportunity to celebrate children, promote their welfare, and draw attention to their rights, education, protection, and future development. According to the Chairman, children are not merely beneficiaries of society but the foundation of the nation’s future.
Engr. Oche stated that Children’s Day should be seen beyond ceremonial activities and parades, noting that it represents a call to responsibility and leadership in areas that directly affect the lives of children. He stressed that government and society must remain committed to improving the well-being and future of every child within the local government area.
The Chairman highlighted the critical responsibilities of the government towards children to include:
1. Ensuring access to quality education and conducive learning environments.
2. Promoting child healthcare, nutrition, and immunisation.
3. Protecting children from abuse, exploitation, child labour, and violence.
4. Encouraging moral upbringing, talent development, and youth empowerment.
5. Creating policies and programmes that support the growth, safety, and overall well-being of children.
The Council Chairman further noted that Children’s Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the challenges facing children and to seek practical solutions through collaboration among pupils, teachers, parents, and community leaders. He reassured children across Ado Local Government that the government recognises their importance and remains committed to securing a brighter and better future for them.
Engr. Sunny Oche also advised children to remain focused and disciplined in today’s rapidly changing world, while urging parents to maintain closer communication and guidance for their children’s moral and personal development.
