Troops of Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have sustained operational pressure against terrorists and criminal elements across the North-East while ensuring peaceful Eid-el-Adha celebrations in several communities within the theatre of operation.

The military said the operations, conducted under Operation DESERT SANITY V/SIEGE OPERATIONS, also led to the arrest of suspected criminals and a terrorist collaborator in separate operations across Borno State.

This was contained in a press release issued by Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI and signed by Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer, on May 27, 2026.

According to the statement, troops deployed in Ngoshe community provided security and joined vigilantes and residents in observing Eid prayers at the Ngoshe Central Mosque, an area previously threatened by terrorist activities.

The military described the development as a significant sign of improved security and growing civilian confidence in ongoing military operations.

“The development is particularly symbolic as the location was previously threatened by terrorist elements, underscoring the effectiveness of ongoing aggressive military operations and the gradual restoration of normalcy,” the statement said.

The military added that prayers were offered for the Armed Forces of Nigeria, peace in the North-East, and the nation as a whole.

Similarly, troops of Headquarters 26 Task Force Brigade under Operation HADIN KAI ensured robust security during Eid prayers in Gwoza town, creating what the military described as a “safe and secure environment for worshippers.”

In separate operations, troops swiftly responded to intelligence reports of robbery activities in Gar Gwigwi village, Biu Local Government Area of Borno State, leading to the arrest of three suspected criminals identified as Aliyu Mamadu, Umar Mohammed, and Adamu Aliyu.

The suspects were reportedly apprehended without resistance after victims positively identified them.

Recovered items included mobile phones, wristwatches, charms, a dagger, cash, and a dane gun.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearm belonged to one Mallam Manu Ibrahim, identified as a member of the Miyetti Allah, who had allegedly been robbed a day earlier.

“The weapon has since been returned to its rightful owner, further reinforcing the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property,” the statement added.

In another development, troops working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator identified as Alhaji Gambo, 33, during routine security checks while attempting to enter Monguno town.

The military said vehicle spare parts and other personal effects were recovered from the suspect, who is currently undergoing investigation.

The statement noted that all arrested suspects remain in military custody while efforts continue to track down other members of criminal and terrorist networks operating within the theatre.

While acknowledging that the security situation remains “calm but unpredictable,” Operation HADIN KAI said troops remain highly motivated and committed to denying terrorists freedom of action across the North-East.

“The Military High Authority commends the troops for their impressive battle performance and urged them to continue to dominate the battlespace in order to completely deny the terrorists freedom of action across the Theatre of OPHK,” the statement concluded.
