ORBIH’S DEATH: Giadom Mourns, Hails His Courage, Bridge-Building Legacy

The National Vice Chairman, South-South of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief (Hon.) Victor Giadom, has expressed deep grief over the death of Chief Daniel Osi Orbih, describing the late Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain as a “brother, compatriot and dear friend” whose contributions to public life would remain indelible.
Giadom, in a condolence statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, extended his sympathies to Orbih’s wife, Mrs. Florence Orbih; his children, Ms. Winifred Anwosiobor Orbih and Dr. Mildred Omonemi Orbih; his siblings and the entire Orbih family, praying God to grant them the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
He described the deceased as a man of warmth, courage, wisdom and generosity, noting that Orbih’s commitment to public service and his long-standing relationship with him went beyond partisan politics. “Chief Orbih was not merely a political associate; he was a brother and compatriot with whom I shared a long, fond and deeply cherished history,” Giadom said.
According to him, Orbih was also a critical stakeholder in the “Rainbow Coalition” political movement championed by former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, through which political actors from different platforms worked in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections. Giadom said Orbih’s participation demonstrated his political sagacity and willingness to build bridges across party lines in the interest of Nigeria.
Giadom further noted that Orbih’s influence extended beyond partisan politics, pointing to the numerous traditional titles bestowed on him across different communities, including The Kulukulu 1 of Ogoni Land, The Oduma of Uzairue, The Agbokhaivho II of Avianwu Clan, Enakhaimhoi of Anegbete, Esama of Uromi and Eze Oha 1 of Mburubu, among others.
He said the death of Orbih had robbed the Etsako Nation, Edo State and Nigeria of “an illustrious son, a bridge-builder and a man of considerable courage, character and influence,” adding that while his passing had created a difficult-to-fill void, his memories and contributions to public life would continue to endure.
“Rest in peace, my brother and compatriot. Your memory will remain cherished, and you will be deeply missed,” Giadom said, while praying that Almighty God would receive Orbih’s soul and comfort his family, friends, political associates and other mourners.
