DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONALS: SEPTEMBER 5 CHRISTIANS AND INDECENCY (2) SCRIPTURE: ROMANS 1: 26 – 28; ISAIAH 3: 16 – 17, 24
In the concluding paragraph of yesterday’s devotional it is said that God has moral standard rules to uphold as Christians. There are moral principles God expected His children to embrace to live decently.Many might argue that indecency is only for sexual immoral life. In fact, many preachers and teachers their materials were accessed in writing this devotional subscribed to immoral lifestyle as indecent life. We are living in a world where human beings are collapsing what the first century world considered moral good behaviours. We can now sleep with animals, birds, reptiles and same sex and refuse others to see the action as indecency. Besides, exposure of one’s private parts has become a choice of action and not to be condemned. If this is condoned by the people considered to be non-Christians it could be easily understood. Things as mentioned here are those that the Bible described as “unnatural relationship” (Rom. 1: 26).
Christians should be bold enough to accept that God hates acts of indecency of any nature. Those practicing acts of indecency are left doing so while others think God approved of it. The world is full of disgraced actions and behaviours because God gave them up to such actions as a result of people’s inclinations to doing unnatural things including sexual impurities. Hear the Bible: “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with one other men…” (Rom. 1: 26 – 27 NIV). It is an indecent act to allow men and women to make love in the glare watch of people also. The Bible says anyone doing any of this “…received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion” (Rom. 1: 27 NIV).
Today’s devotional wishes to include some punishments God outlined for women who go about with seductive motives and advertising their bodies amongst male counterparts. There is a feeling that Christian ladies who copy the non-Christians in this area will learn what God says and avoid being caught up with the punishments. God says He will afflict them with sores, baldness of heads smelling bodies which they poured upon perfumes to seduce men. Hear the word of God here: “…The women of Zion are haughty, walking along with outstretched necks, flirting with their eyes, tripping along with mincing steps, with ornaments jingling on their ankles. Therefore the Lord will bring sores on the heads of the women of Zion; the lord will make their scalps bald…instead of fragrance, there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of a well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding” (Isaiah 3: 16 – 24 NIV). Men doing these seducing women will share in the penalties too. Let he/she who has ears hear the word of God.
PRAYER:
FATHER GOD OF MERCY, kindly restore your children who have adopted insane things of this world going after unnatural ways of life back to acting on your moral standards set out for them in the name of Jesus Christ.
