2027: Goronyo Accepts Leadership of North-West Support Group, Mobilises for Tinubu’s Re-Election
By Pan Afric Reporters
The Minister of State for Works, Rt. Hon. Bello Muhammad Goronyo, has accepted to lead a new North-West political support organisation mobilising grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The development was contained in a press release signed by Abdullahi Mohammed, Special Adviser on Media to the Honourable Minister of State for Works, following Goronyo’s meeting with stakeholders from the seven North-West states in Abuja on Wednesday, September 10, 2026.
The proposed organisation, known as Bello Muhammad Goronyo (BMG) Associates for Asiwaju/Shettima 2027, was formally presented to the Minister by a delegation led by Dr Haris H. M. Jibril, which also sought his acceptance to serve as its National Convener and Leader.
The group equally requested permission to adopt the Minister’s initials, BMG, as the organisation’s acronym and pledged to operate under his guidance and in accordance with the leadership structure and directives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North-West.
Presenting the rationale for the initiative, the delegation said it was founded in recognition of Goronyo’s experience in political mobilisation, leadership development and grassroots engagement, as well as his contributions to previous APC election campaigns.
The stakeholders specifically cited his role in youth mobilisation during the 2023 Presidential Campaign Council and his previous responsibilities within the North-West APC structure as evidence of his capacity to coordinate stakeholders and mobilise support around a common political objective.
According to the delegation, the organisation would provide a disciplined and coordinated platform for grassroots mobilisation, engage citizens, communicate the achievements of the Tinubu administration and promote the policies and programmes of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The group said its activities would also focus on constructive engagement with citizens, particularly youths and women, while encouraging responsible participation in the democratic process.
The proposed structure is expected to comprise representatives from the seven North-West states, with State Coordinators and officials responsible for youth mobilisation, women mobilisation, organisation, communication and coordination across the three senatorial districts of each state.
The delegation also presented a proposed Standard Operating Procedure designed to guide the organisation, with emphasis on discipline, loyalty, accountability, teamwork, respect for constituted party leadership and responsible political engagement.
Responding, Goronyo commended the initiative and expressed appreciation to the stakeholders for their confidence in his leadership.
He noted that many members of the delegation had previously worked with him within the APC campaign structure, including during his tenure as Director of Youth Mobilisation for the North-West and later as Zonal Secretary of the North-West APC.
The Minister said the renewed mobilisation reflected the stakeholders’ commitment to Nigeria’s development, unity and prosperity, as well as their confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Goronyo stressed that grassroots mobilisation remained critical to democratic participation and effective communication of government policies and programmes to citizens.
He urged political mobilisers to operate with discipline, respect and responsibility while paying attention to the concerns and aspirations of the people.
Highlighting some of the Tinubu administration’s infrastructure interventions, the Minister cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Trans-Saharan Corridor, Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi-Gombe Corridor and Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway among major legacy road projects.
He also mentioned the ongoing rehabilitation and construction of strategic projects, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, saying improved infrastructure would enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, reduce travel time, create economic opportunities and promote national integration.
According to Goronyo, the administration’s interventions extend beyond roads to railway development and other critical sectors aimed at improving transportation and facilitating the movement of people and goods.
He urged members of the support organisation to communicate the administration’s policies, programmes and achievements to Nigerians in a clear, respectful and factual manner.
The Minister also advised the group to listen to citizens, understand their concerns and communicate government policies in ways capable of building trust, unity and confidence in democratic institutions.
Goronyo subsequently accepted the leadership responsibility and pledged to provide strategic direction and guidance to the organisation.
“As the Secretary of the Support Groups of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the Presidential Campaign Council, we will continue to work with you, mobilise Nigerians and engage our people constructively towards ensuring the successful return of our dear President, President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in 2027, Insha Allah,” he said.
Following his acceptance, Goronyo formally inaugurated the organisation and charged its leadership and members to remain united, disciplined, accountable and committed to responsible political mobilisation across the North-West.
He urged the organisation to build a strong grassroots network capable of reaching communities and effectively communicating the policies, programmes and achievements of the Federal Government.
The Minister further called for inclusiveness and fairness in the group’s operations, urging members to promote peaceful political participation and respect differing views within the democratic space.
He also expressed readiness to work with political leaders, party officials and other stakeholders across the North-West to ensure that the organisation operates within the framework of party discipline, responsible mobilisation and constructive grassroots engagement.
Goronyo concluded by praying for continued peace, unity, stability and prosperity for Nigeria.
