POLICE, SISTER SECURITY AGENCIES RESCUE 20 ABDUCTED PROSPECTIVE NYSC CORPS MEMBERS IN IMO

The Nigeria Police Force, in collaboration with sister security agencies, has rescued 20 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members abducted in Imo State on October 1, 2026.

 

The development was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Ani Iniedu, from the Force Headquarters, Abuja.

According to the statement, the victims were rescued at Amakohia Ubi Village in Imo State following sustained search-and-rescue operations by the security agencies.

 

The rescued prospective corps members have since been taken for medical assessment and necessary care, the Police said.

The Force said efforts were ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the abduction, as security agencies sustain coordinated operations aimed at bringing all persons found culpable to justice.

The Police further appealed for continued public cooperation and support, stressing the importance of collaboration between security agencies and communities in tackling security threats.

 

“The Nigeria Police Force appreciates members of the public for their cooperation and support and remains committed to the protection of lives and property, prompt response to security threats and continued collaboration with sister security agencies,” the statement said.

The successful rescue comes as security agencies intensify coordinated operations to respond to threats against citizens and prevent further attacks and abductions in the state.
