TCN Moves to Restore Kainji-Birnin Kebbi 330kV Line After Tower Collapse

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has intensified restoration efforts on the 330kV Kainji-Birnin Kebbi Transmission Line following the collapse of Tower T367 along the transmission corridor.
The update was contained in a statement issued by TCN Management on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, on the progress of restoration works at the affected location in Yauri, where technical teams are currently working to restore the damaged infrastructure.
According to the company, the collapsed tower has been completely dismantled and decommissioned, while the conductors and skywire have been properly aligned and prepared for the next phase of the restoration operation.
TCN said an Emergency Restoration System (ERS) tower has also been moved to the affected site and is ready for installation, marking a major step towards reconnecting the transmission infrastructure.
The company explained that the installation of the ERS tower would be followed by cable stringing and other associated technical works required to restore the affected section of the transmission line.
“Significant progress has been recorded at the affected location in Yauri,” TCN said, adding that its engineers and technical personnel “remain actively engaged at the site and are working hard to ensure a quick completion and restoration of the line.”
TCN assured electricity consumers and other stakeholders affected by the incident that every effort was being made to complete the restoration as quickly as possible and return bulk power transmission to normal.
The company also expressed appreciation to consumers and stakeholders for their “patience and understanding” during the restoration period, assuring the public that the rehabilitation works would continue until the affected transmission line is fully restored.
