Governor Ododo Approves N316 Million Bursary for Kogi State Undergraduate Students
In a significant move to support higher education, Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo , has approved a bursary of N316 million for 8,750 eligible undergraduate students from Kogi State. This financial assistance aims to enhance the educational prospects of these students and alleviate the financial burden associated with pursuing their studies.
Additionally, Governor Ododo has announced that students of Kogi State origin studying law at various law schools will now receive a bursary of N300,000 each. This support reflects the government’s commitment to fostering legal education and encouraging aspiring lawyers from the region.
In total, 201 law students from Kogi State have been cleared for the law school bursary, amounting to N60.3 million. This initiative demonstrates the state’s dedication to investing in the future legal professionals who will serve the community and uphold the law.
The announcement was made by the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, during the presentation of a complimentary cheque to Miss Favour Oluwatimilayo Toyin Adebayo, a Kogi State indigene currently studying in Poland on a scholarship. The N5 million cheque was presented to aid Miss Favour in her studies abroad, emphasizing the state’s effort to support talented students pursuing educational opportunities outside Nigeria.
Miss Adebayo secured her scholarship while studying at Nasarawa State University through an exchange program, showcasing her academic excellence and dedication.
Mr. Afolabi Joseph Raji, the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Scholarship Board, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring that every Kogi student achieves academic success and becomes responsible citizens. He highlighted that the bursary and scholarships are designed to complement tuition, accommodation, and other essential needs, providing crucial support to Kogi students as they strive for academic excellence.
