Ado Local Government Inaugurates Revenue Committee to Boost IGR

Ado Local Government Chairman, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, has inaugurated a new Revenue Committee to revitalize the council’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). The committee, dissolved and re-constituted to ensure a fresh strategic ideas are infuse into the revenue structure with new start is tasked with significantly increased Ado IGR revenue base.
Following a period of sub-par IGR performance attributed to inadequate monitoring and evaluation, the Chairman took decisive action to re-establish a robust revenue collection system.
The Chairman, Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche, dissolved the previous committee in his inaugural speech on October 9, 2024, to facilitate a clean slate to birth accountability, transparency, equity and fairness in the local government revenue drive.
The newly appointed committee according to a press release e-signed by the Council Boss Chief Press Secretary, Samson Otokpa is headed by Chief Jacob Egwurube, who is an experienced revenue professional that previously worked with former Governor Suswan of Benue State. Meanwhile, Chief Jacob doubles as the Senior Special Adviser (SSA) to the Chairman on Revenue while Comrade Mathias A. Okpave serves as Secretary of the committee respectively.
The committee boasts of a diverse membership selected from the five districts of Ado Local Government: Utonkon, Agila, Igumale, Ulayi, and Ijigban with the following individuals been appointed as Revenue Commissioners, reporting directly to Chief Egwurube:
1. Dickson Okeda Ogbu – Utonkon District
2. Emmanuel Agbaji – Agila District
3. Hon. Ogaba Emmanuel – Igumale District
4. Hon. Loveday Achadu – Ulayi District
5. Hon. Gideon Achi – Ijigban District
The Chairman has emphasized the importance of diligence and ethical conduct, stressing that each member underwent a thorough background check. The committee’s mandate includes ensuring the prompt and direct deposit of all generated revenue into the appropriate Local Government account. A key objective is to bolster the IGR by implementing efficient collection and reporting systems.
“The future of Ado Local Government is bright,” stated Hon. Engr. Sunny Oche. “This newly constituted Revenue Committee is essential to restoring financial stability and progress for our community.” He further stressed that failure to meet the revenue targets will have significant consequences.
