Enjoins Olofu to fulfill the destiny of the bloc!

A group from Apa Senatorial District (Benue South) known as The Senate Movement 4 Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, of Benue South, has urged one of the notable Sons of Apa/Agatu, Hon. David Adejoh Olofu Ph.D, to take the chance!

The group in a courtesy call to him at his Otukpo residence on the 6th December, 2024, said Olofu, a foremost Philanthropist, a human capacity Developer, a Finance Manager/Expert, a seasoned Business Man who was once the Commissioner of Finance for Benue State, is ably fit and qualify to take the destiny of the Federal Constituency bloc and fulfill its senatorial desire!

The group which is made up of members from across the Nine local government areas, is of the advocacy for proper zoning of the senatorial seat of the Zone.

The members took turns to emphasize the fact that the 4th democratic dispensation which spanned from 1999 to date, has had Otukpo/Ohimini and Ado/Okpokwu/Ogbadibo Federal Constituencies produced Senators for the zone, the later, whose second term in the Senate, would expire in 2027. It advised that while the Apa/Agatu and Oju/Obi Federal Constituencies, have not produced any Senator for the zone, the integers, favours Apa/Agatu which is the only Federal Constituency in the zone that has neither produced Deputy Governor nor Senator from and for the zone!

The group is committed to achieving this objective goal, in order to evenly rotate appropriately, the senatorial seat for the zone in the spirit of internal fairness and inclusion; citing that the struggle would see Oju/Obi bloc, taking the Senate, after Apa/Agatu as one of the Four Federal Constituencies!

The group, call on all political Leaders, Advocates of democratic enthronement and etiquette, to sincerely join the movement, as a sign of true unity for the zone for the right democratic and equitable course.

The group members which cut across political party lines, unanimously call on Hon. Dr. David Adejoh Olofu, who hails from Opaha, in Apa LGA of the Apa/Agatu Federal Constituency, to run for the Apa Senatorial Seat and win, as the time and tide favours the bloc and himself appropriately; a call they adjudged as taking the destiny of the political bloc in order to fulfill it expediently for the Zone.

They eulogized the Finance Expert of his social empowerment by one of his foundations, the Apa Legacy Sustainability Initiative, a developmental foundation which is already impacting lives, from which 100 Students from the Nine Local Government Areas, have benefited. A legacy initiative which places on a Five years scholarship; with the hope of greater development, industrial prospects and human capacity building for the Apa Senatorial District of Benue State.

The Convener of the group, a socio-political and Rights Activist, Comrade Daniel Atayi, in his statement, said the move is not to witch hunt anyone, not even the current occupant of the Senate, but to proportionally, correct the internal political zoning anomalies of the Apa Senatorial District (Benue South). He said while the incumbent is doing greatly well at the Senate, much is desired of him to meet up the Legislative yearnings and agitation of the zone c people who have high hope in the current constitutional reforms at the National Assembly and as advocated by the President and Commander In Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR. He praised the efforts of the incumbent Senator in driving the hope of the people of the zone into the Legislative businesses, but stated that his time expires in 2027, and there would be no room for a 3rd term aspiration except an impassive understanding between him and the Apa/Agatu bloc, citing that aside such understanding, continuity of the sit tight syndrome of the Apa Senatorial Seat, would not be accepted by majority of people who wants no repetition of the era of Senate President Mark whose case was allowed because of his then position as Senate President!

Atayi commends Senator Moro’s Legislative prowesses at the NASS, he however said the senator fits more in an executive position like Governor, Minister or even President of the nation, and charges him to contest for Governor of Benue State and never to break the zoning system and considerations to the Federal Constituencies of the Zone.

“Our commitment to this is selfless, democratic struggle, is noble thing to do, we urge all Leaders, stakeholders, Elder statesmen and youths of our zone to queue behind this struggle for proper zoning formula in the Apa Senatorial District, to enable us agitate very well and properly, the quest to produce the Governor of Benue State. It is not a witch hunt or negative interests of any kind, but a pure advocacy for our zone to have synergy of purpose and not political animosity!

In his cognizance speech, Dr. David Adejoh Olofu, thanked the group for the courtesy call, which he believe is a greater call for higher responsibility, but however said, he is not in competition with anyone, he has respects for democracy and leadership as well as for Leaders, and that he would consult widely and be of circumspection and that nevertheless, the commitment to see a greater development, Industrial capacity of the zone, and human capacity building for youths, are the fulcrum for which he would always oblige!
