DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: JANUARY 17 “BECAUSE YOU HAVE SAID IT, I WILL OBEY.” (1) SCRIPTURES: LUKE 5: 1 – 7
Peter and the other disciples toiled all night, (even as professional fishermen) yet, they caught nothing. They were tired and frustrated and were ready to go home empty handed when Jesus showed up and with a specific instruction: “launch out into the deep and lay down your net for a drought.” Peter told Jesus, master, what you are asking us to do is what we have done throughout the night; there are no fishes in this river. I wouldn’t want to do it again, but because you have said it, let me give it a trial, I will let down the net. _Reluctantly, Peter and the other disciples went into the Sea of Galilee, and they caught multitude of fishes to the extent that their nets broke.
John 2: 5, “His mother saith unto them, whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.” Obedience to the master’s instructions precedes the miracle of the new wine. Psalm 37: 23, Rom 8: 28. The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and He delighteth in his way. If we voluntarily submit to the will of God, if we can say, ‘not my will, but your will be done’; all things will work together for our good. No one obey God and be disappointed; allow God interrupt your plans, your programs and your decisions this year. Be ready to do whatever He is asking you to do; you will not regret obeying God.
PRAYER POINTS:
• Oh God, help me not to argue with you over my miracle.
• I refuse to be a stumbling block to my blessings.
• Grant me the readiness of mind to obey you at all times.
CONFESSION:
I want to surrender totally to your will Oh, God. I am ready to live my life in complete obedience to you, so help me God.
