DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: APRIL. 15 TOPIC: THE POWER OF HIS PRESENCE (4) SCRIPTURES: Exod. 34: 27 – 35; 33: 18 – 23.
Moses got to a point where he wanted to see God. He saw just the backside and the glory of God shone upon him and when he got to the Israelites, they could not behold His face. It glowed and they had to cover his face with a veil. When you encounter God’s presence, no demon or witchcraft power can harm you. You need to pray to the point of encountering God so that his presence will always be with you. The more you stay in God’s presence, the less attention you will give to what people say about you. And no power of darkness can stand before you.
The amazing thing that happens among Christians today is that; as fearful as God is; people still play games with His Name. They make mockery of Him and operate on false claims.
“Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.” (Deut. 5:11). This group of people ignore God’s word that says: “Be not deceived; God is not mocked, for whatsoever a man Soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Gal 6:7).
In Acts 19:13-16, Sceva, the Jewish chief priest had seven sons, who used a formula to invoke the name of Jesus in order to cast out demons like Apostle Paul. They would say to the demons,” in the name of Jesus who Paul preaches, I command you to come out.” The play backfired one day, a demon they were trying to cast out refused, saying, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; who are you? The demon possessed man jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding.
Demons recognize valid authority of God, and those to whom Jesus gave it. (Luke 10:19) If the presence of God is on you, you will be given authority over demons and every demonic activities; the demons must submit to you at the mentioning of the name of Jesus. But what is greater than authority over demons is knowing God as your father, and ensuring that your name is written in the book of life.
Many in the modern day churches today are like self-deceived hypocrites who try to use Christianity for worldly gains and pleasures. But this has terrible effects of creating false believers who never had a personal encounter with God. Consequently, we have many Christians today that resemble the world more than Christ.
PRAYER POINTS:
(1) Father God, I want to serve you with reverential fear and total obedience.
(2) Remove far from me every form of distractions that will infringe on my commitment to you.
CONFESSION:
I am a carrier of God’s presence; therefore, I am too defended to be defeated, and too hot for the devil to handle.
