Ado Local Government Designated Zonal Headquarters for Benue State’s New Security Outfit, “Operation Anyam Nyor”

Ado Local Government Area has been designated as the Zonal Headquarters for Zone C of Benue State’s new security outfit, “Operation Anyam Nyor,” the Benue State Civil Protection Guard (BSCPG). This strategic location, situated in a region previously identified as a criminal hotspot—and notably, the area where the August 2024 kidnapping of 25 University of Maiduguri medical students was resolved—underlines the state government’s commitment to combating crime.

The announcement according to a report by the SA Media and Strategic Communication to Ado Local Government Council, Aluma Moses was made during the inaugural ceremony on Saturday, December 14, 2024, by Benue State Governor, Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia (Ph.D).

Governor Alia according to the report emphasized his administration’s unwavering dedication to safeguarding the lives and property of Benue State residents, reiterated his earlier pledge to employ 10,000 Benue youths in a security initiative, with the initial deployment of 5,000 officers, supported by 100 Hilux vehicles and 600 special combatant motorcycles. The Governor declared that the launch of “Operation Anyam Nyor” marks a decisive victory in the fight against insecurity within the state.

The Ado Local Government Chairman, Engr. Sunny Oche, expressed his full support for the initiative and pledged to collaborate closely with the Governor, State Coordinator Deputy Commissioner of Police (DC) Ude Asoquo, and the BSCPG to ensure the successful operation of the Zone C command.

Further solidifying the commitment to the initiative, the Benue State Commandant of the BSCPG confirmed that each division will receive adequate personnel and operational vehicles. Two branded Hilux vehicles, equipped with sirens, were distributed to the Ado Local Government command, symbolizing the full commencement of “Operation Anyam Nyor” in Zone C. Chairman Engr. Oche assured that the vehicles will be used judiciously, with strict disciplinary action taken against any personnel misusing them.

This development signifies a significant step forward in enhancing security within Benue State and promoting a safer environment for all citizens.
