As the Deputy Speaker of the 10th Benue State House of Assembly and Vice Chairman of the Forum of Deputy Speakers of Nigeria, Chief Hon. Mrs. Lami Danladi Ogenyi marks a significant milestone of two years in office, there is no gainsaying that her tenure has been characterized by unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and transformative representation.

As lawmakers, parliamentarians are tasked primarily with making laws that guide the executive arm of government in making decisions and policies that serve the best interests of citizens. However, beyond legislation, they also play a crucial role in driving development projects and building human capital in their constituencies. Deputy Speaker Chief Hon. Mrs. Lami Danladi Ogenyi has excelled in these areas, setting a remarkable standard for others to follow. Despite the challenges often faced by women in leadership, she has broken barriers and achieved notable success, paving the way for future generations.

During her campaign, Chief Danladi identified the deplorable state of the Ado road as a major challenge hindering development in the area. She made a commitment to prioritize its rehabilitation, and true to her word, she swiftly engaged with the Executive and other stakeholders upon assuming office in 2023. Her persistent efforts yielded results, with the Executive Governor of Benue, His Excellency, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, awarding the contract for the construction of the Igumale-Agila road. The 2025 budget also captured the construction of the much-needed Ekile road, demonstrating the Deputy Speaker’s commitment to infrastructure development.

In the area of education, Chief Danladi has made significant strides. She has renovated dilapidated structures at Apa-Agila Community Secondary School, provided new desks, and installed a brand-new power generator set to power the school’s ICT unit. Additionally, the construction of modern toilet facilities with water supply is underway, and a block of two-classrooms at Community Secondary School, Agila, is nearing completion.

The Deputy Speaker’s efforts according to a press statement e-signed by her Press Secretary,Agbaji Samuel Atsonwu extend beyond infrastructure development. She has successfully secured permanent jobs for over 15 constituents across different sectors, including the Benue State University Teaching Hospital and Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA). Currently, she is hopeful of securing jobs for over 50 constituents with the Benue SUBEB. Her commitment to youth empowerment is evident in her facilitation of appointments for several youths from her constituency into different political positions.

Chief Danladi’s leadership has also been marked by peace restoration efforts. Her active involvement in resolving conflicts between communities has forged strong unions and improved economic activities as evident in the restoration of peace between Agil/Ngbo communities who were at loggerhead for over a century before the intervention.

Women empowerment is another area where the Deputy Speaker has made a significant impact, providing business grants, food items, clothing, mattresses, and other forms of support to women in her constituency.

To promote food security, Chief Danladi has distributed water pumps, improved seeds, and herbicides to farmers’ cooperatives in her constituency. She has also rehabilitated water sources (boreholes) across communities in Ado.

As a feedback-oriented Representative, the Deputy Speaker maintains a close relationship with her constituents, listening to their needs and addressing them promptly. Her consultations and lobbying efforts at the national level have yielded positive results, with development projects in the pipeline for her constituency.

Chief Hon. Mrs. Lami Danladi Ogenyi’s two years in office have been marked by exceptional leadership, visionary policies, and transformative representation. Her commitment to the welfare of her constituents is unwavering, and her efforts have brought significant dividends to the people of Ado State Constituency. As she looks to the future, it is clear that her impact will continue to be felt for years to come.

The lawmaker has assured the people of Benue State that she and her colleagues are aware of the current challenges and are working tirelessly behind the scene to secure peace and a brighter future for the state.

She expressed gratitude to the people of Ado state constituency for their sustained support and urged for unity to achieve a peaceful and greater communities, and Benue at large.

The Deputy Speaker also thanked the Governor of Benue State, His Excellency Rev. Fr. Dr Hyacinth Iormem Alia, for his support to the Assembly, and appreciated her colleagues for their collaboration and support. She equally congratulated them for reaching this important milestone.

 

Kama Dclared Winner Of Ohanivo APC Primaries, Asures Of More Democracy Dividends Alex Odeh Member representing Ohaozara, Onicha and Ivo(Ohanivo)¹Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Nkemkanma Kama, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the forthcoming general election, pledging to deliver more democratic dividends to his constituents. Speaking shortly after his victory at the party primaries, Kama expressed excitement and gratitude to party stakeholders, supporters and the state leadership for giving him another opportunity to serve. “I’m elated and very happy for being given another opportunity to serve my people. I’m grateful to all the stakeholders, our leaders, our constituents and most importantly our governor who stood by us throughout the process. Above all, I thank God for giving us this opportunity to serve again.” The lawmaker described the turnout and mobilisation witnessed during the primaries as only a glimpse of what to expect during the general elections. “This is nothing compared to what will happen during the general election,” Kama stated confidently. “This is just a piece of cake for what is going to happen during the election proper.” Kama assured constituents that his second term would usher in greater development and more opportunities for the constituency. According to him, his return to the National Assembly would strengthen the constituency’s chances of attracting more federal projects and benefits, especially as a ranking member of the House. “More development and more ability to attract goodies to our constituency is what our people should expect,” he said. “We have only done one budget, and now we are preparing for the second budget cycle. We’ll revisit communities we promised projects and ensure we fulfil those promises before moving forward.” He added that retaining experienced lawmakers was crucial to securing greater influence and benefits for the constituency. “A ranking member is a ranking member; you can’t buy that in the market,” he noted. “I believe our governor, being a former parliamentarian, understands the importance of having ranking lawmakers who can attract more development to the constituency.” Also speaking after the primaries, Ebonyi State Commissioner for ICT, Tochukwu Okorie, said the massive turnout and patience of party supporters reflected the confidence of the people in the APC. “I align myself with the feelings of my people.When you look at the crowd and the fact that they have waited here since morning, it shows they are happy and satisfied with the party.”, he said. Reacting to questions about possible opposition challenges ahead of the general election, the commissioner dismissed fears, insisting the APC remained firmly rooted among the people. The APC primaries in the Ohanivo Federal Constituency recorded a large turnout of party faithful and supporters, setting the stage for what promises to be a keenly contested general election
