NNPC Retail Drives Women Inclusion in Energy Sector with She-Fix 2.0 Initiative

The NNPC Retail Limited has reinforced its commitment to gender inclusion and women empowerment with the successful hosting of the second edition of its flagship initiative, She-Fix 2.0, drawing over 300 participants in Abuja.
The event, themed “Driving Diversity, Powering Progress,” brought together women professionals, entrepreneurs, young technicians, and key players in the energy sector, highlighting growing efforts to expand female participation in technical and leadership roles.
The development was disclosed in a statement signed by Andy Odeh, Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Limited.
In her address, the Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, underscored the importance of inclusion in national development, calling for increased opportunities for women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).
“Inclusion is central to national growth. There is a need to create more opportunities for women in technical and STEM-related fields,” she said, while commending NNPC Retail for championing the initiative.
Delivering the keynote address, Sophia ambakwe, Executive Vice President, Business Services at NNPC Limited, emphasized the critical role women play across all levels of the organisation.
“Women’s contributions within NNPC Limited permeate every level. NNPC Retail, as our interface with everyday Nigerians, reflects the importance of diversity in driving impact,” she stated.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of NNPC Retail Limited, Huub Stokman,represented by Valentina Kojo, stressed the need for practical and sustainable empowerment initiatives.
“Women empowerment must be practical, visible, and sustainable to deliver real impact,” she said.
Odeh, in his remarks, highlighted the transformative role of women in the evolving energy landscape.
“Women in today’s energy sector are leading change, building institutions, and shaping the narrative of an industry already in transition,” he noted. “When women lead, value follows, and when value follows, organisations grow and society prospers.”
The event featured panel discussions, live technical demonstrations, exhibitions of female-led businesses, and networking sessions aimed at fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Panelists included notable industry figures such as Emmanuella Arukwe, Maryamu Idris, Oremevi Akah, Toyin Alasi, and Adaeze Nwakoby who shared insights on leadership, innovation, and governance across sectors.
Building on the success of its 2025 edition in Lagos, She-Fix 2.0 underscores NNPC Retail’s expanding commitment to creating opportunities and delivering lasting impact for women across Nigeria’s energy value chain.
