The Federal Government has launched a high-profile nationwide inspection of major infrastructure projects, with presidential media aides leading a strategic tour aimed at showcasing progress, enforcing accountability, and boosting public confidence under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The initiative, which commenced along the critical Abuja–Kaduna–Kano highway corridor, signals a renewed push by the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu to demonstrate tangible results in infrastructure delivery, particularly across the North-West region.

Details of the exercise were contained in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Works, signed by Mohammed A. Ahmed, Director of Information and Public Relations.

Leading the technical briefing during the inspection, Engineers’ Representative, Engr. Chukwuma Kalu, confirmed that a 108-kilometre stretch from Tungan-Maje in the Federal Capital Territory to Jere in Kaduna State has been completed, while work on the next phase is progressing steadily toward a November deadline.

“This corridor, which previously faced significant challenges, is now transforming into a major artery for mobility, trade, and economic revitalisation,” Kalu stated.

Also speaking, Senior Project Manager of Infiouest International Limited, Robert Turner, commended the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure renewal, highlighting the administration’s emphasis on local capacity.

“About 80 per cent of the workforce on this project are Nigerian professionals, reflecting a deliberate policy to build local expertise while delivering quality infrastructure,” he said.

The inspection team also evaluated progress on the Nnamdi Azikiwe–Kaduna Western Bypass, a 21.47-kilometre dual carriageway designed to decongest traffic within Kaduna metropolis and stimulate economic growth in surrounding communities. Originally awarded in 2021, the project has recorded accelerated progress since 2023.

Providing further insight, the Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, explained that the media tour will extend beyond road infrastructure to cover rail, healthcare, education, and renewable energy projects nationwide.

“The tour is designed to give media practitioners firsthand access to project sites, enabling them to independently assess progress and report accurately on government interventions,” Dare said.

He added that the initiative is part of a broader effort to deepen transparency and reinforce public trust in ongoing development programmes.

The ongoing tour, which will span multiple states across the North-West, is expected to highlight key infrastructure investments and underscore the administration’s drive to reposition the region through sustainable development.
