Eid-el-Adha: Information Minister Urges Nigerians to Embrace Unity, Sacrifice

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has called on Nigerians to embrace the virtues of sacrifice, compassion, unity, and peaceful coexistence as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid al-Adha.
The Minister also urged citizens to continue praying for peace, stability, and national progress while reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The message was contained in a press release issued by the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and signed by Mohammed Idris on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.
Congratulating Muslim faithful in Nigeria and across the world, the Minister described Eid al-Adha as a sacred festival that reflects the enduring values of faith, obedience, devotion, and sacrifice as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim.
“This sacred festival reminds us of the timeless virtues of faith, sacrifice, obedience, compassion, and devotion to the will of Almighty Allah, as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim,” the statement read.
According to him, the season provides an opportunity for reflection, tolerance, and renewed commitment to national unity despite ethnic, religious, and political differences.
“It is a season that calls for reflection, unity, tolerance, and renewed commitment to the values that bind us together as one nation,” he stated.
Mohammed Idris urged Nigerians celebrating the festival to show love to the less privileged and strengthen the spirit of peaceful coexistence across communities.
“I also encourage Nigerians to use this period to extend love and support to the less privileged, promote peaceful coexistence, and strengthen the spirit of national unity, irrespective of ethnic, religious, or political differences,” he added.
The Minister assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration remains focused on building a safer, more prosperous, and inclusive nation through the Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains committed to delivering the Renewed Hope Agenda and building a more secure, prosperous, and inclusive Nigeria for all,” the statement noted.
He further prayed for peace, joy, and prosperity across the country as Muslims mark the celebration.
“May the blessings of Eid bring peace, joy, and abundant prosperity to every home, and may Allah accept our prayers and sacrifices,” the Minister said.
