Residents of Iwo and surrounding communities in Osun State are set to experience a temporary power outage today as the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) commences routine annual maintenance on a major transformer at the Iwo Transmission Substation.

The development was disclosed in a notice issued by TCN’s Osogbo Region and signed by the General Manager, Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah.

According to the notice, the maintenance exercise will be carried out on the 40MVA 132/33kV power transformer at the Iwo Transmission Substation from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

TCN explained that the planned maintenance forms part of its ongoing efforts to enhance the reliability, stability and efficient operation of the national transmission network.

As a result of the exercise, the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) will be unable to receive bulk power supply for distribution to customers in Iwo Town, Bowen University and Rabbish during the seven-hour maintenance period.

The company emphasized that the temporary interruption is necessary to ensure the continued optimal performance of transmission infrastructure serving the area.

“The maintenance is part of TCN’s ongoing efforts to ensure the reliability and efficient operation of the transmission network,” the notice stated.

TCN appealed to electricity consumers in the affected communities for understanding and cooperation, while expressing regret over the inconvenience the outage may cause.

The transmission company reassured residents that normal power supply would be restored immediately upon completion of the maintenance work.
