The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Taiwo Oyedele, has paid tribute to late Afenifere leader and elder statesman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, describing his life of service as a benchmark for integrity, accountability and prudent financial management.
Oyedele conveyed the tribute in a statement mourning Fasoranti’s death, in which he reflected on the late statesman’s contributions to public service, particularly his tenure as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under the administration of Chief Michael Ajasin.
According to the minister, Fasoranti’s record in public office remains a model for those entrusted with managing public resources and serving the interests of the people.
“For those of us in economic management, his record as Commissioner for Finance in the old Ondo State under Chief Michael Ajasin remains a clear benchmark of prudence, accountability, and ethical stewardship,” Oyedele said.
The minister, who identified himself as a proud son of Ondo State, said he shared in the grief of the people over the passing of the revered elder statesman, whose life spanned a century.
He noted that the most meaningful way to honour Fasoranti’s legacy was for public officials and leaders to uphold the values he demonstrated throughout his lifetime.
“The finest tribute to his century of service is to lead with the discipline, fairness, and commitment to the public good that he demonstrated throughout his life,” he stated.
Oyedele extended his condolences to the Fasoranti family, the Afenifere community and the people of Ondo State, urging that the late leader’s commitment to ethical leadership and public service remain an enduring inspiration.
He concluded his tribute with a prayer for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
