The Council of Chiefs from Igumale District of Ado Local Government Area paid a historic solidarity visit to the Executive Chairman of Ado Local Government, Engr. Sunny Oche, at his country home. This marks the first such visit since Engr. Oche’s election as Chairman.

Led by the Ada Ado, HRH Joseph Ochikor Onazi, the delegation included Chief Attah Obande (Ward Head, Igumale Ward 1) Chief Agwu Unogwu (Ward Head, Igumale Ward 2) among other traditional rulers. Also present was Ogbu Okibe (Secretary to the traditional Council), Hon. Ochai Monday Ikor (Secretary to the LGC) and Hon. Noble F. Abakpa (Supervisory Councilor for Education, Youth and Sport Development). The Chiefs expressed their gratitude to God and Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia (Ph.D) for his support for the Local Government Area all round.

The traditional rulers praised Engr. Oche’s leadership style, commending his open-door policy and unifying approach. They pledged their unwavering support to his administration, emphasizing a commitment to fostering a strong working relationship between the Chairman and the traditional rulers. They specifically lauded Engr. Oche’s efforts in infrastructural development, security improvements, increased Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), job creation, and his proactive engagement with neighboring Ebonyi State to enhance peaceful coexistence.

The visit culminated in a bestowal of royal blessings upon Engr. Oche, with the presentation of kolanut, palm wine, and bottled drinks as tokens of goodwill. Engr. Oche, visibly pleased, reciprocated the gesture.

In his address, Engr. Oche assured the Chiefs of Igumale District’s fair share in the council’s affairs, promising to elevate Igumale to its rightful place as a fitting Local Government Headquarter. He has appointed Arch. Agbo Adai, a seasoned architect and former Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development staff, to oversee the modernization of Igumale.

Engr. Oche outlined plans of Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia’s (Ph.D) initiative to light up Benue State. Ado Local Government Area (LGA) is preparing head in line with the significant project—a ₦500,000,000+ investment in solar-powered electricity. The Council boss expressed his appreciation to the Governor for the laudable initiative. The Chairman also announced plans to upgrade primary healthcare facilities in all ten wards. Furthermore, he highlighted the timely mobilization of workers for the Igumale-Agila road project, a significant portion of the state’s ₦30.2 billion rural road construction budget. This project, representing 63% of allocated funds (₦19.1bn), is currently under construction, with Engr. Oche actively overseeing its progress.

The event concluded with a celebratory atmosphere, reflecting the strong and positive relationship between the Ado Local Government and the Igumale District Council of Chiefs. Principal Private Secretary of the Chairman, Innocent Igelle reports.
