DAILY HOPE DEVOTIONAL: SEPTEMBER 14 DANGEROUS PARTNERSHIPS (2) SCRIPTURE: 1 COR. 15: 33; NEHEMIAH 6: 1 – 4; PSALM 55: 12 – 13
Yesterday’s devotional threw light on how partnership between Amnon and Jonandab caused Amnon his life. They were actually cousins, yet, Jonadab’s heart was filled with craftiness and evil intents. Amnon on his own had evil passion for his step sister. Amnon operated on foolishness by accepting Jonadab’s counsel. Usually, dangerous partners influence their partners wrongly to their detriments. As said yesterday, our youths, adults and even organizations go about wearing scars of dangerous partnerships. Truth of it all is that, many of us discovered early enough how bad our partners are, but lack in the boldness to cut off from them.
The Bible warns against bad company in 1 Cor. 15: 33. The Psalmist expressed his bitterness on discovering that his closest friend, companion and acquaintance was he who dealt painfully with him (Psa. 55: 12 – 13). Bible teachers attributed Psa. 55: 12 – 13 to Jesus, because it is said to belong to Messianic Psalms, which speak things concerning Jesus our Messiah. It is always painful falling victims to a dangerous partnership. However, use of wisdom, especially Divine Wisdom can save us from further pains. Nehemiah used Divine Wisdom to reject invitation to meet together for friendly discussion from Sanballat and Geshem (Neh. 6: 1 – 4). Nehemiah and his people would have been killed if he had accepted the invitation of Sanballat.
This devotional opines that though, discerning a dangerous partner could be difficult; only walking with the Holy Spirit and Divine Wisdom can save Christians from being prey to dangerous partnership. Facts remain that many have lost their lives, money, properties and other possessions to unknown partners on Facebook, Instagram, Messengers, WhatsApps and other social media charts. Many people have lost their lives through Facebook conversations and subsequent invitation to meet somewhere for dating or business talks. Others sources revealed that fortunes are being lost presently point at dangerous partnerships of online marketing networks have promises of quick and 100% interest/profits turn over are made. Few months of partnering with these faceless magic financial institutions, fortunes as well as lives are lost. Christians are hereby advised to act wisely when forming partnership with people. The Bible says that wisdom is a principal thing as well as profitable to direct (Prov. 4: 7; 10: 10).
PRAYERS:
1. Pray that God reveals to you, the inner minds of anyone having partnering relationships with you in the name of Jesus Christ.
2. Pray and ask God to deliver you from anyone you are in partnership with, who is discovered to be a dangerous partner already.
