NAFIC DG Rallies Troops on Welfare Schemes, Applauds Anti-Terror Gains in North-East

The Director-General of the Nigerian Army Finance Incorporation, Julius Osifu has urged frontline troops of   Operation HADIN KAI to take full advantage of welfare and financial schemes, describing them as critical to boosting morale and enhancing operational effectiveness.

 

Osifo according to a press release e-signed by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, Sani Uba (Lieutenant Colonel )  made the call during a sensitisation visit to troops at the Headquarters Theatre Command, Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI, at the Maimalari Military Cantonment in Maiduguri on March 23, 2026.

 

Addressing the troops, the NAFIC boss emphasized the importance of existing welfare initiatives designed to support personnel in active service.

 

He said troops should “take full advantage of existing Nigerian Army welfare and financial schemes designed to enhance their well-being and operational effectiveness.”

 

According to him, NAFIC manages key welfare programmes such as the Nigerian Army Benevolent Fund and the Group Life Assurance Scheme, alongside other packages aimed at assisting personnel in cases of injury, disability, or death in service.

 

He explained that the sensitisation programme also covered the Nigerian Army Personnel Loan Scheme, the Chief of Army Staff Personnel Loan Programme, activities of the Directorate of Non-Public Funds, and the establishment of the Nigerian Army Microfinance Bank.

 

Osifo noted that the initiative was designed to deepen awareness among troops about their entitlements and responsibilities.

 

“Improved awareness of these schemes would further boost troops’ morale and fighting spirit, ultimately enhancing their effectiveness in ongoing operations,” he stated.

 

The DG also commended the Theatre Commander of the Joint Task Force North East, Abdusalam Abubakar  for his leadership and operational successes in the theatre.

 

He noted that “the sustained offensive operations have significantly degraded terrorist capabilities, despite a few isolated setbacks, and have restored public confidence in the Armed Forces.”

 

In his response, Abubakar appreciated the visit, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly at a critical phase of ongoing dry season operations.

 

He disclosed that troops have continued to make significant gains in the fight against insurgency.

 

“Troops have continued to record successes, neutralising about 300 terrorists through well-coordinated operations and superior firepower,” he said.

 

The Theatre Commander added that increased awareness of welfare schemes has played a key role in boosting morale among personnel.

 

He affirmed that the initiative aligns with the Chief of Army Staff’s “Soldier First Culture,” noting that it reassures troops of adequate support in times of need.

 

The visit featured activities including inspection of a quarter guard, interactive sessions with officers, signing of the visitors’ book, and presentation of souvenirs.
