Anambra CP Orutugu Strengthens Security Strategy, Disburses ₦59m to Families of Fallen Police Officers

In a renewed drive to bolster security across Anambra, the Commissioner of Police, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, on Thursday, September 11, 2025, convened a high-level strategic meeting with Area Commanders, Tactical Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) of the Command.

The meeting, held at the State Police Command Headquarters in Awka, focused on revitalizing operational strategies, enhancing intelligence-led policing, and reviewing ongoing investigations into critical cases.

Addressing the officers, CP Orutugu according to a report e-signed by the Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga charged them to remain steadfast in their constitutional duty of protecting lives and property. He stressed the importance of discipline, professionalism, and community collaboration in achieving sustainable security. The CP further directed commanders to intensify patrols, surveillance, and intelligence sharing to consolidate the Command’s recent security gains.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of cheques totaling ₦59,186,177.62 under the Inspector-General of Police’s Group Life Insurance/Family Welfare Scheme to 38 families of fallen officers. CP Orutugu, who personally presented the cheques, described the gesture as proof of the Force leadership’s commitment to personnel welfare. He assured that the sacrifices of gallant officers who died in the line of duty would never be forgotten.

In addition, the CP extended cash support to the family of an Inspector who died while repelling an insurgent attack at Aguata, reaffirming the Command’s readiness to stand by the families of fallen heroes.

Reassuring Ndi Anambra, CP Orutugu pledged the Command’s unwavering commitment to safety, law, and order. He called on residents to continue supporting the Police by providing credible information that would aid in combating crime across the State.
